Long time TM1 user/developer
What do you like best about the product?
End users get the data they need on their own.
What do you dislike about the product?
Product merges can be disjointed. TM1 works best when it is a single cohesive system. PAW should not be a separtely licensed product and similar components from CA should be the same in PA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Financial and operational forecasting and reporting run as the speed the users need to make informed decisions.

Planning Limited Only By Your Imagination
What do you like best about the product?
Seemingly unlimited capability and flexibility to handle the most complex planning challenges, giving the customer exactly what they want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the coding can be a little complex until your knowledge of the tool increases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to take detailed inputs and quickly translate to operating results of business units. Accountability driven down to whatever level is important.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
More integration with Cognos Analytics. Ideally Planning Analytics would just plug into Cognos Analytics as a data soure and there would only be a single reporting platform

The ease to create your own business rules via TI processes and rules. It's a white board that you can implement upon your needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Installing the product is kind of a nightmare. The IBM Support team does not help much.

Some of the old perspective features are not available in PAx,, the Paw administration and coding is also not up par with perspectives architect

Cognos TM1 at Northrop Grumman
What do you like best about the product?
TM1 is a game changing planning tool for our organization with instant consolidations and the ability to explore detailed data never previously available in our organization. I would highly recommend this product for any organization looking to streamline their planning processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue is that it is not as easy to develop applications for a financial person without technical skills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are finding new and improved ways to develop our indirect rates and annual operating plans.
Real Time Financial Performance Management Leading product
What do you like best about the product?
Planning Analytics has the horsepower, agility, and adaptability to incorporate complex business rules and provide detailed accurate reporting. The new capabilities such as PA Workspace are making it easier for Power users to model and design without having deep coding skills.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product has limitations when it comes to transferability between clients such as Perspectives, PAX to a web client like TM1Web or PA Workspace.

Problem resolutions revolve around planning and budgeting to accomodate financial requirements in various industries. Benefits include real time reporting with customizability and depth.
