Apify Twitter Scraper: Unreliable Limits, Unpredictable Results, and Costly Overfetching

  • March 11, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up actors, flexible automation tools, and good integration options for scraping workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our experience with Apify’s Twitter scraper started positively, but over time it became extremely disappointing and costly due to multiple issues that directly affected reliability and budget control.

1. Parameters not working as expected
Many of the parameters provided by the actor did not behave consistently. Even when we configured limits such as maximum items to fetch, the scraper did not always respect them. This made it very difficult to rely on the actor in a production workflow where predictable behavior is critical.

2. Unnecessary fetching that wasted our budget
On several occasions the scraper fetched thousands of tweets even though strict limits were configured. These runs consumed a large amount of resources and unexpectedly increased our costs. What made this worse was that these fetches were not intentionally triggered by us, yet the platform still charged for them. When we raised the issue, there was no meaningful resolution or refund, even though the behavior clearly went beyond the configured limits.

3. Fetching outdated tweets instead of recent ones
Another recurring issue was that the scraper frequently returned old tweets instead of the latest ones, even when using options intended to retrieve the most recent results. For time-sensitive workflows this makes the data unreliable. We often saw situations where tweets from the previous day appeared while tweets posted within the last hour were missing entirely.

4. Uncertain and inconsistent scraper behavior
The overall behavior of the Twitter scraper felt unpredictable. Identical configurations would sometimes produce completely different results between runs. Some runs would miss relevant tweets, while others would return irrelevant or outdated data. This level of inconsistency makes it difficult to trust the tool for automated systems.

While Apify provides a capable platform and a developer-friendly interface, the lack of strict control over limits, unreliable scraping results, and poor cost safeguards created serious operational issues for us. For any system that depends on predictable data collection and controlled spending, these problems can become very costly very quickly.

Until stronger safeguards, clearer parameter behavior, and better cost protection mechanisms are implemented, it is difficult to recommend relying on the Twitter scraper for production-critical workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want the tweets of several profiles and it helped to scrap tweets at affordable cost

Powerful Web Data Collection Automation That Saves Time

  • March 10, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is a powerful way to automate web data collection, and it makes deploying scraping workflows much faster than building and maintaining custom infrastructure. It’s especially helpful when you combine scraped data with automation tools to support lead generation, research, or monitoring workflows. ≈
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s a bit of a learning curve when working with different actors, but once everything is set up, the platform runs reliably and saves me a significant amount of time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Apify has accelerated my data-driven workflows by making it straightforward to collect, store, and integrate web data into automated pipelines and broader business processes.

Apify Automates Competitive Research with Scheduled Facebook Ad Library Scraping

  • March 06, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Apify saved us from doing competitive research by hand. We set up the Facebook Ad Library scraper to run on a schedule — it pulls live ad data across dozens of brands in seconds, automatically. What used to take an afternoon of manual browsing now happens before we open our laptops. The more useful thing, though, is that it runs whether we remember to check or not. For a small team with too many things to track, that's the part that actually matters.
What do you dislike about the product?
Where it's less appropriate: anything requiring real-time data. The scheduling and run queues introduce latency that makes it unsuitable for anything time-sensitive. It's also not the right tool when you need highly customized extraction logic on a platform that doesn't have a maintained actor, building and maintaining your own actor is more work than it looks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Competitive research that used to take a full afternoon now runs automatically in the background. We stopped paying attention to that task entirely, it just happens.

2. We caught a gap in our market early. One scraper run showed us that most competitors in our space were running fewer than 5 active ads. We scaled our own campaigns while that window was open. Hard to put an exact number on that, but the timing mattered.

3. The biggest ROI is honestly just not having to build and maintain scrapers ourselves. Every homegrown script we've written has broken within a month. Apify actors stay maintained by people whose only job is that specific site. That reliability compounds over time, you stop budgeting engineering hours for something that should just run.

The Actor Store Is a Huge Time-Saver

  • March 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Actor Store is the single biggest time-saver. Instead of building and maintaining scrapers from scratch, there's almost always a pre-built Actor for the platform you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
The credit based pricing is the biggest frustration. It's genuinely hard to estimate what a run will cost before you execute it, and a poorly optimized Actor or an unexpectedly large crawl can burn through credits faster than expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The core problem Apify solves for us is reliable access to data that doesn't come with an API. Apify handles the infrastructure, anti-bot measures, and proxy rotation so we don't have to. The direct benefit is that we can take on data-driven client projects without scoping in significant engineering overhead.

Powerful Scraping & Automation Tools with an Excellent Free Tier

  • March 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A number of small and big tools for scraping and automation
Convenient to navigate when armed with proper guides
Easy access to API
Best free tier I have ever seen
Works wonderfully with n8n
What do you dislike about the product?
Some tools in the store are hard to set up (and probably are not useful)
A complicated tool for beginners
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Apify, I can find task-specific tools for my n8n workflows to perform scraping. The store provides affordable solutions and provides monthly credits, so I can use it regularly. It saves a lot of time and helps me replace comlex workflows or nodes that don't work properly in n8n for some reason.

Faster Actor Updates and Powerful JavaScript-Heavy Web Scraping

  • March 03, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The recent update on actor has made things faster, think of it as server less functions, that can run on demand. The use cases are vast. The scraping ability for javascript heavy websites is too good.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's UI is a bit crowded for me to start as learning curve can be harder. Can't estimate costs. As it can steep very high easily without any warnings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting data from the website that don't usually allow scrapers, I've made a few scrapers for clients uch as keepa.com scraper and it's faster than any other scraper
