You can use it on local, instead of Oracle that it's very loud, but Oracle is more simple in using and you can easily create stored procedures.

Stone age relic that is barely trying to look modern. (DB2 LUW)

  • October 26, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's being replaced at our shop gradually and will likely be pushed out the door. That's about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wow! Where to start? The stone age interface at operating system level? The many kludges and signs of neglect? The lack of support in the community and the vendor? The horrid documentation by IBM? The ridiculous backup and restore procedures? I guess the biggest problem is that it's an IBM product. The vendor has a horrible track record with in-house and acquired software that's been Blue-washed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This was originally sold to the business as a cheaper (and better) solution to the rising prices that Oracle was invoicing. It was cheap for a few years and then the prices for the product started increasing. One of the issues we've seen is that UPGRADES TO A NEW FULL VERSION LEAVE REMNANTS OF THE OLD VERSION AND IBM CONTINUES TO CHARGE FOR BOTH VERSIONS. We haven't found the mechanism to clean this up as yet due to the convoluted licensing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Run away . Consider something else. IBM is not a vendor you would want on your site in any case.

What do you like best about the product?
