One of the best Identity & Access Management solution
What do you like best about the product?
I have an opportunity for a customer to implement an SSO solution considering the budget and rich features. I have checked for Forgerock OpenAM & WSO2 Identity server and went with WSO2 IS to implement the same. The product installation was quick and easy for the proof of concept. The management console has a rich UI with easy navigation for available features. As per the business requirement, a 2FA setup was required, and it was easy with WSO2 IS with a click of a button and browser-based configuration only. Single Sign On(SSO) was implemented for four applications with WSO2 IS login window as a single entry point. It also asked the customer to use the existing users from their Active Directory. This requirement was also fulfilled easily using secondary user store configuration via console with browser-based form, and users get listed under Users > Secondary user store.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have experienced that sometimes XML-based configurations are a bit complex, as a little syntax error leads to the malfunctioning of the whole application. OOTB features someCustomisation requires in-depth technical knowledge and could be difficult, primarily when the product has been implemented partially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. To meet GDPR compliance, most organisations are implementing IDAM solutions.
2. We had a similar story about having strong governance over resource access, and I suggested using WSO2 IS as an open-source solution first. Having multiple apps with single entry points for login was also a significant problem. WSO2 IS helped the same via SSO capability with MFA.

WSO2 IS as a dedicated User Management, Authentication and Authorization service
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility that WSO2 provided in setting up a standalone WSO2 IS as a Docker container running inside a Kubernetes Cluster as a pod. It fulfills all the requirements regarding OAuth2, user management, roles, scopes, service providers, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the documentation and support for WSO2 products can be refined a little more. The current does fulfill the requirements, but sometimes it becomes a chore to search for a particular issue/solution specifically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The WSO2 IS server is a one-stop solution for all our authorization and authentication needs. We can easily track the users, their applications, roles, etc. We could easily integrate this with Spring-Security to fulfill all our OAuth2 needs, and also we leveraged multi-tenants in the WSO2 server.

Great product with lot of agility and cost efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
Very comprehensive identity management product with a lot of agility and flexibility. Being free and open source is great for small-scale companies and startups. We started our company back in 2014 and we were looking for identity management solutions. As a startup, we couldn't afford much on other enterprise-grade solutions and WSO2 products were the savior for us in the identity management domain.
We could set up the on-premise solution by referring to the documentation and we were running since then without any major issues.
It supports all most all the security standardization in modern days. We used SAML authentication with the LDAP user store. The inbuilt user claims and custom claims become handy when the application evolves and its comprehensive APIs support us in achieving all most all the requirements of our application.
Also, the product stability /scalability is at a satisfactory level. As we are delighted with IS features and cost efficiency, we are now moving to WSO2 Asgardeo which is a SaaS solution for IS.

What do you dislike about the product?
Product configuration can be challenging and complex due to various configuration options. It needs in-depth technical knowledge and considerable resources to manage the cluster which is not very desirable, particularly for small and medium-scale companies.
It lacks some support for UI configurations and updating via XML is bit of a headache for the technical teams. But its great to see WSO2 is now moving towards SaaS based CIAM solutions which is more or less a DIY package. I hope all these configuration challenges will be resolved with this new product.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Emojot is a multi-tenant SaaS application in the domain of customer centric digital transformation domain. We had a challenge in finding most secured, stable and scalable IS solutions while being cost efficient. WSO2 IS was intrumental in providing solutions for all these key challenges we were facing.
We mainly use IS for user authentication with SAML. user profiles are maintained with multiple inbuilt and custom claims. WSO2 IS and APIM worked well together in authentication and authorisation process with exposing secured APIs and claim management.
