This Quick Start deploys Informatica PowerCenter automatically into an AWS Cloud configuration of your choice.

Informatica PowerCenter is a data integration solution that can process billions of records and connect to a vast array of data sources, including AWS services such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and Amazon Redshift.

The Quick Start includes AWS CloudFormation templates and a guide that provides step-by-step instructions to help you get the most out of your deployment.

  • What you'll build

    Use this Quick Start to set up the following PowerCenter environment on AWS:

    • A virtual private cloud (VPC) configured with public and private subnets across two Availability Zones. This provides the network infrastructure for your PowerCenter deployment.*
    • An Internet gateway to provide access to the Internet.*
    • The PowerCenter domain, which includes the PowerCenter Repository Service for object locking and access, and the PowerCenter Integration Service.
    • Amazon RDS for Oracle repository and domain databases. The repository database holds all the metadata about objects, and the domain database manages the service-oriented architecture (SOA) namespace.
    • Amazon EBS to provide local persistent storage for PowerCenter. The PowerCenter services write cache, source, and target files, and store logs on Amazon EBS.
    • Your choice of two operating systems--Microsoft Windows Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)--for the PowerCenter deployment.
    • On Linux, the choice to provision shared storage for your instances with Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS).
    • Your choice to create a new VPC or deploy into your existing VPC on AWS. The template that deploys the Quick Start into an existing VPC skips the components marked by asterisks above.


    You can access and run PowerCenter on the AWS Cloud from an on-premises PowerCenter client.

  • Deployment details

    Deploy PowerCenter on AWS in a few simple steps:

    1. Sign up for an AWS account.
    2. Launch the Quick Start into a new VPC, if you want to build a new AWS infrastructure.
      -or-
      Launch the Quick Start into an existing VPC on Windows or RHEL, if you already have your AWS environment set up.
      The deployment takes about two hours.
    3. Test the deployment and get started with PowerCenter on AWS.


    To customize your deployment, you can choose different instance types for your resources, choose your operating system (Windows or RHEL), change the number of PowerCenter nodes you want to provision, and choose to enable Elastic IP addressing and provision shared storage with Amazon EFS (Linux only).

  • Cost and licenses

    You are responsible for the cost of the AWS services used while running this Quick Start reference deployment. There is no additional cost for using the Quick Start.

    The AWS CloudFormation template for this Quick Start includes configuration parameters that you can customize. Some of these settings, such as instance type, will affect the cost of deployment. See the pricing pages for each AWS service you will be using for cost estimates.

    This Quick Start requires a license for Informatica PowerCenter. You can use any edition of PowerCenter, depending on the license. Informatica is provided in the AWS Marketplace as a bring your own license (BYOL) listing. You must work with Informatica directly to obtain a license and key.
