Restaurant Brands International Innovates While Staying Lean on AWS
The parent company of Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons, Restaurant Brands International (RBI) prides itself on its lean organization, but its IT team struggled to keep pace with ever-growing data demands. "We weren't able to catch up with the infrastructure and the storage," says Chakri Somisetti, vice president of IT at RBI. "That was becoming every-year work to keep on expanding." To meet the demands of its business while maintaining a lean IT team, RBI migrated from its traditional data centers to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. "Now, we can bring in more data," says Somisetti, including unstructured data from social media for RBI to monitor customer sentiment and make proactive business decisions.
