The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) has the mission to provide secure and quality digital information, services, and platforms to customers and constituents when and where they need them. This includes services to over 42,000 statewide employees as well as nearly seven million constituents. EOTSS is an advocate for digital transformation, leveraging the power of cloud computing to fundamentally change the way they operate and provide services.

EOTSS has driven modernization through cloud adoption enabling the state to not only align with the Governor’s mission but also service the constituents of Massachusetts. EOTSS, alongside their Executive Branch partners have demonstrated the commitment to innovation enabling outreach as part of the PHE unwinding requirements by leveraging AWS Pinpoint as well as Amazon QuickSight to provide data visualization. EOTSS has successfully modernized and migrated hundreds of applications into the cloud including their tax system, HR and payroll platform, finance system, unemployment application, and data warehouse. The success of the cloud program has enabled EOTSS to shut down five on premises data centers to date with plans for two more data center closures in the next year. EOTSS plans to continue its modernization mission, driving reliable, scalable, and secure platforms to build new and innovative services that support the constituents of Massachusetts putting people at the center of their digital future.

What is the AWS State and Local Government Champions Program?

The AWS State and Local Government Champions program recognizes, celebrates, and supports organizations driving digital transformation with cloud computing. The purpose of the program is to acknowledge customers that have used AWS products and services in innovative ways to improve the service to their communities. The organizations selected to receive this award share the mission to transform and advance state and local government to better serve their constituents. This community will provide relatable stories for other state and local government customers to reference as they think about their own digital transformation journey.
