CloudFormation: New Management Console and support for more AWS features

Posted on: Dec 19, 2013

We are pleased to announce the release of a new Management Console for AWS CloudFormation. The new console simplifies creation and management of stacks of AWS resources. We’ve updated the look and feel of the console and made enhancements such as auto-refreshing of stack events. Please click on the “Feedback” button in the new console to let us know what you think, and you can switch back and forth between the old and the new console if you wish.

We have also added support to CloudFormation for features of some other AWS services:

Now, you can also define names of your choice for RDS DB Instances, Elastic Load Balancers, and ElastiCache Clusters (instead of the default - unique, auto-generated names). Please see the AWS Resource Type Reference for the complete set of resources supporting user-defined names.
