Reserved capacity offers significant savings over the normal price of DynamoDB provisioned throughput capacity. When you buy reserved capacity, you pay a one-time upfront fee and commit to paying for a minimum usage level, at much lower hourly rates.
You can purchase and manage reserved capacity units directly from the AWS management console. The minimum reserved capacity purchase units is now reduced 100 capacity units. For a three year term, reserved capacity provides a 76% discount and for a one year term reserved capacity provides 53% discount when compared to provisioned throughput capacity. With the new improvements, you can take advantage of these lower prices for workloads that only need 100 read or write capacity units.
