Amazon SageMaker Notebooks now export Jupyter logs to Amazon Cloudwatch

Posted on: Aug 30, 2019

You can now view your Amazon SageMaker Notebook logs in Amazon Cloudwatch. Notebook logs provide key details such as events, metrics, and health information, which can be used to generate actionable insights about your SageMaker notebooks.

With this launch, you no longer need to log into your notebook terminal to access logs and can instead view and analyze the logs directly from CloudWatch. You can use the built-in functionality of CloudWatch to detect anomalies and also set alarms to be automatically notified based on specific conditions. Also, you have the benefit of having access to your logs even when the notebook instance is unresponsive. Sensitive information such as AWS Account IDs, secret keys, and authentication tokens in pre-signed URLs are automatically redacted before the information is written to CloudWatch.
