Today we announced the general availability of AWS Elemental Link, a device that connects a live video source, like a camera or other video production equipment, to AWS Elemental MediaLive for video encoding in the cloud. Contributing high-quality live video into the cloud can be challenging. Most hardware requires expertise on-location to install, manage, and troubleshoot, and can be expensive for occasional use. Equipment is often heavy, noisy, and requires resources to keep cool. And, sending video reliably over congested networks is difficult.

AWS Elemental Link is fast and easy to set up. Link devices ship fully configured to your AWS Account; simply connect the device to power, an IP network, and an HD-SDI or HDMI video source. Once connected, video is automatically available in your MediaLive console in less than a minute, and ready to stream to viewers. Devices are controlled and monitored remotely using the MediaLive console.

At a price of $995 USD (tax, shipping, and MediaLive costs excluded), Link provides broadcast-grade video transfer at a fraction of the cost of traditional approaches. Small and silent, the Link device can be deployed almost anywhere your video source is located. Link maximizes the quality of video transferred to the cloud by using an advanced video compression system and adapting the video signal to network conditions in real time.

AWS Elemental Link works with MediaLive, part of AWS Media Services, a family of services that form the foundation of cloud-based workflows and offer you the capabilities needed to transport, create, package, store, monetize, and deliver video.
