AWS Direct Connect makes it easy to establish a dedicated network connection from your premises to AWS. Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your data center, office, or colocation environment, which in many cases can reduce your network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.
AWS Direct Connect customers can now use CloudWatch Metrics to monitor and take action on the usage, state, and health of their AWS Direct Connect virtual interfaces (VIFs).
Until now, customers only had visibility of the connection state, traffic throughput and light levels of their AWS Direct Connect Dedicated connections. With monitoring for VIFs, customers can now see CloudWatch Metrics for traffic throughput per virtual interface. AWS Direct Connect customers with Dedicated, or Hosted connections can use the enhanced monitoring capabilities to understand VIF level usage.
