Today, AWS IoT Greengrass announced a new integration with AWS Systems Manager that helps IT and edge device administrators to securely manage their edge devices, such as industrial equipment and industrial PCs, alongside their IT assets, such as EC2 instances, AWS Outposts, and on-premises servers.

With this launch, edge device administrators can use AWS IoT Greengrass to manage their edge application stack while using AWS Systems Manager to execute OS upgrades, schedule maintenance tasks, and remotely access their edge device fleet. The result is a single, integrated solution that helps edge device administrators manage their full device software stack. For example, a medical device manufacturer can use AWS IoT Greengrass to deploy and manage the applications on their device fleet, including managing software versions, testing updates, and rolling out updates over the air. They can also use AWS Systems Manager to schedule and automate operating system updates and patches, or assist customers with remote troubleshooting.

With this launch, IT administrators can now use AWS Systems Manager to get a single consolidated view of their IT and edge infrastructure, and manage these resources through a single set of consistent operational policies. For example, a manufacturing firm can use AWS Systems Manager to holistically manage industrial PCs, on-premises instances in their factory, and EC2 instances using an integrated experience.

This capability is now available in the US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Sydney) Regions.
