Amazon Translate is a neural machine translation service that delivers fast, high-quality, affordable, and customizable language translation. Today, we are introducing formality customization. This feature allows you to customize the level of formality in your translation output for six target languages - French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Now you can customize the formality of your translated output to suit your communication needs.
With Amazon Translate’s formality customization, customers have three options to control the level of formality in the output. The default option is no control over formality by letting the neural machine translation operate with no influence. Formal option is useful for customers, such as those in insurance and healthcare industry, who prefer a more formal machine translate output. Informal option is useful for customers, such as those in gaming and social media who prefer an informal machine translation output.
Formality customization is now available in the real-time operations in commercial AWS Regions where Amazon Translate is available. For step-by-step instructions on how to customize the formality of your translation output, read our blog “Control formality in machine translated text using Amazon Translate” To learn more, please read the Amazon Translate documentation on language translation formality.
