Amazon Kendra is an intelligent search service powered by machine learning, that enables organizations to provide more relevant information to customers and employees, when they need it.

Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Amazon Kendra Intelligent Ranking for self-managed OpenSearch, allowing OpenSearch users with document search applications (i.e. help pages, documentation, informational web sites, internal wikis) to improve the quality of their search results.

With Amazon Kendra’s Intelligent Ranking plugin for self-managed OpenSearch, developers can leverage Kendra’s ML-powered semantic ranking technology to quickly improve the quality of their OpenSearch search results, without any ML expertise. To enable Intelligent Ranking, developers can either simply turn the feature on for a given OpenSearch index or apply intelligent ranking at query time via DSL, as needed. Developers can also use the new search comparison UI in the OpenSearch dashboard to help them assess the search results improvements over the default OpenSearch ranker.

Amazon Kendra Intelligent Ranking for self-managed OpenSearch is available in the following AWS regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Canada (Central) and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
