AWS Elemental MediaTailor now recognizes overlay ad-break signals as valid ad break types in over the top (OTT) streams. Non-linear overlay ads can be rendered in-line with the program content on to the client device using metadata returned by MediaTailor’s existing interface to an ad decision server (ADS) and the VAST standard.
This new advertising format unlocks higher revenue potential in live streaming events. The publisher can monetize the stream outside of linear ad break schedules with a user-friendly ad format that keeps viewers engaged with program content and personalized overlay advertising. MediaTailor simplifies this advertising use case by managing the in-band SCTE-35 standards based ad-break signals, ADS interaction, and delivery of the overlay metadata to the client device, as well as providing fill rate metrics and log insight reporting.
