We are excited to announce that Amazon EMR on EKS is now available in the Africa (Cape Town) and Europe (Milan).
Amazon EMR on EKS provides a deployment option for Amazon EMR that allows you to run open-source big data frameworks on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). With EMR on EKS, customers can now run Spark applications alongside other types of applications on the same EKS cluster to improve resource utilization and simplify infrastructure management. Customers get access to the same Amazon EMR capabilities on Amazon EKS that they use on Amazon EC2 today, such as access to the latest performance optimized Spark runtime, EMR Studio for application development, and a persistent Spark UI for debugging. You can use a single EKS cluster to run applications that require different Apache Spark versions and configurations, and take advantage of automated provisioning, scaling, faster runtimes, and development and debugging tools that EMR provides.
To get started, visit the Amazon EMR on EKS product page, and development guide. For a full list of regions where Amazon EMR on EKS is available, visit the endpoints and service quotas page.
