Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition now supports PostgreSQL version 16.0 in the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment, allowing you to evaluate PostgreSQL 16.0 on Amazon Aurora for PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL 16.0 was released by the PostgreSQL community on September 14, 2023. PostgreSQL 16 adds support for SQL/JSON constructors and identity functions, more query types that can use parallelism, and the ‘pg_stat_io’ view that provides statistics on I/O usage. The Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment supports the latest generation of instance classes. Database instances in the RDS Database Preview Environment that are fully functional and allow complete testing of each new database engine without the hassle of having to self-install, provision, and manage a preview version of the database software. Clusters are retained for a maximum period of 60 days and are automatically deleted after the retention period. Amazon Aurora Database Preview Environment database instances are priced the same as production Aurora instances created in the US East (Ohio) Region.
