Application Manager, a capability of AWS Systems Manager that helps DevOps engineers investigate and remediate issues in the context of their applications, now supports AWS Systems Manager Agent (SSM Agent) automatic version updates in the context of an Application.

The SSM Agent is a software component that users can install on Amazon EC2 instances, on-premises servers, and IoT devices. The SSM Agent acts as a bridge between these instances, servers, or edge devices and AWS Systems Manager. The SSM Agent makes it possible for Systems Manager to update, manage, and configure these resources. Now, customers can activate an automatic update for the SSM Agent version in the Instances tab of Application Manager, ensuring all managed nodes in their application stay up-to-date whenever a new version of the SSM Agent is available.

This feature is available in all AWS Regions where Systems Manager is offered excluding AWS GovCloud (US-West), AWS GovCloud (US-East), China (Beijing, operated by Sinnet), China (Ningxia, operated by NWCD), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Europe (Zurich), Europe (Spain), Israel (Tel Aviv), and Middle East (UAE).
