Amazon AppStream 2.0 now allows you to control network traffic between your streaming instances and the resources in your VPC by using security groups. Security groups provide granular, network-level access controls to streaming instances, and you can use them to manage users’ access to databases, license servers, file shares, or application servers from the streamed applications they use.
You can associate image builders or fleets with security groups when you first create them, using either the AWS Management Console or the AWS SDK. You can associate an image builder or fleet with up to five security groups. If you don’t select a security group, your image builder or fleet will be associated with the default security group for your VPC. To learn more about using security groups with image builders and fleets, please see VPC Security Groups. To learn more about VPC security groups, please see Security Groups for your VPC.
You can use security groups with your AppStream 2.0 fleets and image builders starting today in all AWS Regions where AppStream 2.0 is offered. There is no additional cost incurred.
If you are new to AppStream 2.0, you can try already-installed applications by visiting the AppStream 2.0 website.
