Free Enterprise grade Linux distribution
What do you like best about the product?
You can configure many parts of your system from one place and one tool YaST.
Becouse openSUSE Leap shares the source with Suse Enterprise Linux you get a stable system to work and game on

What do you dislike about the product?
Because openSUSE Leap is built to be as stable as possible Leap sometimes doesn't have the newest version of some programs available and can be a bit hard to install.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Leap to hobby develop games with the Unreal Engine 5.
For work, I use leap to configure networks and network devices.
By using Leap I get a stable system and if I need help there is a big community that happily will help me out.

If you're a user that wants a stable system go with Leap, but if you want the bleeding edge software try out openSUSE Tumbleweed

Good approximation to the SUSE version Enterprise with good performance
What do you like best about the product?
It is a distribution with good stability since it is based on the Linux Enterprise version that tries to offer a solution that allows the deployment of applications and servers. System maintenance and package upgrades are also made easier by using YAST.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using the distribution and configuring it requires more advanced technical skills than a normal user who wants to test the distribution, but doesn't know as much about the ecosystem of tools offered by SUSE, might have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the main features it offers developers is the use of container-based applications that have become an essential component of cloud computing. At this point, openSUSE Leap aims to be a competent solution in this area, where security updates, the presence of container platforms and orchestrators such as Docker Kubernetes stand out, as well as the possibility of being able to easily migrate a server, a virtual machine or a container.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
openSUSE Leap can be used as a staging environment to run workloads that can later be ported to SUSE Linux Enterprise Linux.
Great Linux distro.
I really love openSUSE but why can't it change from a c5a.4xlarge (for example) to another like c6g.4xlarge? I can't give you the five stars only for this.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that openSUSE offers both GNOME and KDE environments. Unlike many Linux distros, it's also pretty accessible to the average user- the graphic-based interface makes learning it a simple affair. With Gnome, though, you also have the option of keyboard-based action, which can be significantly faster for some users. Also, it's pretty cool looking.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's only available in 64-bit these days. Sometimes I like to breathe new life into old laptops that come my way before passing them along, and I often can't use this distro for lack of hardware compatibility and support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OpenSUSE provides a free desktop operating system. As such, it solves a number of business needs from Internet access to email to word processing.

There are so many Linux distros that meet just about every use case. Shop around until you find the one you want. openSUSE is a great choice because it's super flexible and actively developed.

Uno de los principales puntos favorables es lo sencillo que es de instalar, en unos pocos pasos ya puedes disfrutar de este excelente sistema operativo, a tal punto, que la facilidad a la hora de reparticionar disco, permiten al usuario poder disfrutar de otros sistemas operativos en el mismo equipo.
Otro punto a tener en consideración es el de la personalización, ya que en el mismo cuenta con varios escritorios, para poder personalizar el escritorio a nuestro gusto.
Adicionalmente cuenta con un amplio soporte por parte de la comunidad y ademas, cuenta con un soporte de hasta 18 meses por parte de los desarrolladores.
Sin duda, uno de los sistemas operativos mas estables y personalizables dentro del mundo Linux.
Otro punto a tener en consideración es el de la personalización, ya que en el mismo cuenta con varios escritorios, para poder personalizar el escritorio a nuestro gusto.

Los principales puntos negativos son los que se pueden conseguir en cualquier otra distribución en base a Linux como son la no compatibilidad con este sistema de algunos programas, juegos e incluso hardware.
Por otro lado, se tiene que tener conocimiento previo sobre el manejo de sistemas en base Linux, ya que esta distribución no esta orientada para usuarios nuevos.

Nos ha permitido crear ambientes seguros para el desarrollo de aplicaciones, pensando en una posible migración a este tipo de sistemas y verificar la compatibilidad de los aplicativos.

Tener conocimiento de instalar aplicaciones en ambiente Linux es primordial a la hora de manejar este software, adicionalmente es necesario tener conocimiento de para que se utilizara este recurso, hogar, empresa o estudio.

I found it with an interface so similar to windows and with a high level of customization.

That sometimes to install a package, program or driver is hard to do it and when it freexes...

I used it for university homework and projects, using opengl and webgl for physics simulation.

It's a linux that's so helpful for windows users, if you have never used linux before, this one is your best choice.

Because it's a rolling release distro it requires a good internet speed because it downloads many updates frequently.

Su manejo es muy sencillo, su integración del KDE es excelente y la compatibilidad con el Hardware es genial, mejorando gracias a la inclusión de muchos controladores nuevos.

El arranque quizás pueda mejorar, en ocasiones es algo lento. Necesita aún mayor estabilidad pero va por buen camino.

Es muy resolutivo tanto a nivel usuario como profesional, además de muy práctico.

It is a very stable software, it is not susceptible to viruses, we use it for the servers, the amount of resources are less that are necessary in relation to the other software, the updates have worked correctly every time they have been implemented

The installation is a little complex, and there is not so much technical personnel that knows the platform, also openSUSE has a bad rap for installing a lot of bloat in the form of recommended packages, which often tend to get re-installed even if the user tries to remove them

Yast is one of the best tools that we have used in OpenSuse, we use it for the administration of the network, and updates, we have installed third party software and the work has been very easy.
