Works flawlessly

My company has deployed a couple of production machines now using this AMI and everything works as expected, which for OpenSUSE means everything works with zero issues! Maybe we'll encounter one someday but for now it's an Admin's dream.

LEAP into action with openSUSE

  • July 20, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
openSUSE has, hands down, the best KDE desktop experience of any distro out there, it has great theming and the defaults are pretty much perfect. On top of that, you have YAST2 for config in a nice visual manner, but can drop down to the command line for either finer tuned control than the GUI gives you or if you’re just more comfortable with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting mono to install the way that I want to has always been less than comfortable, but that is, I think, more on me than openSUSE.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using openSUSE LEAP to spin up some low powered VMs for PoC servers is really fantastic, that has allowed much greater flexibility to myself and other devs.

What do you like best about the product?
Lightweight operating system, very versatile
What do you dislike about the product?
How the name is spelled "openSUSE"
but at the beginning of the sentence it is "OpenSUSE". just looks really wierd. But not really any complaints from me
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast, secure desktop environment for everyday business use

OpenSUSE a reliable Distro

  • July 19, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use regarding the installations for 3rd party apps and also the community support that they provide.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cons to this distro that is not sudo base, meaning there is a small learning curve in the beginning if your experience was only debian.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using at a main workstation OS instead of RedHat.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
OpenSude is Linux Distro that is an alternative for a RedHat Workstation. However if you are looking for server Linux Distro then I would recommend CentOS as a free server OS.

What do you like best about the product?
It all works quite well, has a good clean look, a bit of a learning curve, but nothing impossible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance can be unresponsive occasionally, but very rare.
Its only media player is Dragon player and it doesn't play a lot of formats unfortunately
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's very efficient and does what any other Linux distribution can, but better.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
What are you waiting for? This is the best linux distribution ever!
