Great for Backup to NAS and Cloud

  • December 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love that I can backup to a NAS and have an off-site cloud backup as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Except for some of the failure messages, I have not found anything to dislike so-far
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This has saved the day when a Crypto Virus hits!

So far so good!

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the sheer amount of cloud storage solutions I can utilize with this software. I am currently backing up data to a few storage providers, and before CloudBerry, I was having to utilize multiple software titles to get all of my data where it needed to go. With Cloudberry, I can easily create backup schedules that go to different providers from one console! This is great.
Speaking of the console... it's pretty straight forward and easy to use. Setting up backup schedules was a breeze... as is seeing statuses, historical data, and settings.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you want to change a setting of a backup set, you have to step through the whole backup set creation wizard. While you can just click next through the pages you don't have to change, it would be nice to have a list view where you can just edit what you need and hit apply.

Another dislike is the 1TB storage limits that are on the all the CloudBerry versions except Ultimate. If I'm paying $120 for this software, I really think I should be able to back up any amount of data I want. It's not like CloudBerry pays for the storage I am using... it's just a method to get my data to the storage provider.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloudberry allows me to backup my data to multiple cloud-storage sites with one easy-to-use console. I can also do my local backups to disk. Rolling all of that into one software solution is great and makes monitoring and administrating my backups quick and easy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a full-featured solution with multiple backup types, location options, and security settings... this is your software!

What do you like best about the product?
Although early, this service is working flawlessly. Working in the entertainment industry, this easily connects to multiple cloud accounts and lets us send things off site to S3, OneDrive, etc. Easy to create different backup plans and control everything remotely via the web portal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lots of options could get confusing for daily users, however if you are an admin distributing this to multiple users, the options are very detailed and gives you full control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scheduled Automated backup to Amazon S3 then into Glacier for cold storage

What do you dislike about the product?
So far - nothing. It all works as advertised.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My current backup solution just added 50% to the cost and was slowing my computer down. With the easy scheduling I can use Cloudberry to make my life a lot easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get it - you don't have to be a tech geek to use Cloudberry & Amazon for backup!

Great features and flexibility to configure to almost any need. Allows options to backup to local and network in addition to online services. Strong suite for meets requirements for IT pro or experienced consumer.

Some flaws and annoyances but probably the best in its class nonetheless

What do you like best about the product?
Incredibly flexible in terms of configuration and storage options. It will work with just about any cloud provider that you might need, including Backblaze B2. The interface is pretty good , at least compared to the competition. It's got some quirky elements, but I've been able to figure out how to do most things pretty easily. Basically, if you want to choose your storage provider separately and are looking for a tool to access that storage, that can work with different providers and offers multiple backup sets, it seems like the best choice, at least in this price range.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest issue for me is the business model. I'm not thrilled that I need a license for every single machine I want to backup - but the real kicker is that there is a 1TB limit on cloud storage with all the editions except one. This is surprising at first because Cloudberry is not providing the storage! It is a purely arbitrary limitation that has nothing to do with software capabilities. These days, with large media files, 1 TB is not so large. What really bothers me though is that a) you really have to search the website to even find this out - it's not described in the product specs, and b) the only version that goes past 1TB costs $299!!! So $29 for the basic desktop version - but if you want to backup all those movies and music and home videos - the price goes up by 10x.
The progress bars are not very helpful - you can't really see how much is waiting to be backed up and it's difficult to see how much is currently in the backup storage.
Beyond that major issue, I've run into some glitches - but nothing that keeps me from using the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using Crashplan for years, under the wonderful Home backup plan with no limit on space and a very generous number of computers. It was a great deal. Crashplan had a lot of flaws, but it worked and it was very affordable. Code 42 has decided to completely abandon consumer market, and their small business product is much too expensive. (As a side note, I'd avoid this company because if they are willing to just drop a lot of dedicated users, there's no reason to think they won't do it again with another product). None of the other backup services felt like a good replacement for crashplan (mostly due to cost or other issues), so I decided to roll my own.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend it so far but be aware of the limitations.

Reliable

What do you like best about the product?
I like how the software is almost a set it and forget it application. It also has very deep variability and easy to use as well as a clean and user-friendly interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like a warning if the backup service on my computer gets disabled. I have seen this twice when the software wants to update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep an AWS backup of our internal network drives.
