Excellent Software and Hardware. Amazing support.
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to implement and maintain. Hardware is solid with the newer generation of devices. Being open-source is a plus, and the ability to enable specialized lists for security is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The use of eMMC is a little confusing. I understand the use of it for small devices, but for the larger devices for business, it seems to have a high failure rate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to connect multiple locations with multiple remote workers in a safe a secure manner. Ability to keep track of devices connecting to our networks and to segment particular users and devices.

Simple use for basic needs as well as vast depths to fine tune and secure infastructure.

Reliance on 3rd party utilities (pfBlockerNG for example)

Solutined as a replacement/upgrade for older Sonicwall appliances.

What do you like best about the product?
The support is absolutely very good in many ways.
1- The community is fantastic.
2- The pfSense documentation is extensive and thorough
3- The business support model is fantastic by its availability and openness
(We bought a TAC enterprise contract and find, it is of really very good value).

What do you dislike about the product?
Even though the WebGUI is well organized and very descriptive it falls short of describing the full aspects of parameters and their incidences.
It would be great if it could be linked to the documentation or a wiki or even specific forum posts.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to manage securely, applying access and blocking rules, playing the ideal role of Firewall and connections between units, monitoring links and accesses, errors and failures.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is not pleasant, we could improve it with easier access to its options, like open-source software, it could allow specific customizations for companies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reduce costs with servers and device connections, facilitating network access. Access devices via a web interface without needing to travel to the unit, saving time and money.
Excellent Firewall
What do you like best about the product?
Can use own hardware with such a good firewall platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pfsense is not for novice web users. Please make sure you have a good understanding of network protocals and firewall technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heavily rely on haproxy for access to my internal resources. Also use openvpn for vlan routing through tunnel for geo network considerations.
pfSense has been the best option I could have chosen.
What do you like best about the product?
It has been easy to use and setup. pfSense has easy tutorials to follow for creating firewall rules.
What do you dislike about the product?
The hardest thing is trying to get the "A" record working to use hostnames in looking up endpoints. I have not been able to figure this out and get it working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to use the OpenVPN, and now are able to switch over to a ZTNA option: Tailscale. Remote work was/is a major consideration.
Best firewall at low cost.

Well used packages with input from my peers about how to operate.

Support can be slow. But always gives correct answers.

Powerful front-end security device
What do you like best about the product?
pfSense is rock solid, it is one of the few appliances that I never question. It is highly configurable for VLAN, DHCP, Routing and much more.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am unaware that pfSense has any down side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
pfSense provides a rock solid front-end security gateway with DHCP for all of our VLANs.
An important equipment for providing/protecting access for our research work
What do you like best about the product?
We are able to have very important features such as network segmentation, openvpn+2fa, suricarta, zeek, logging at a very reasonable and affordable pricing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Steep learning curve in the beginning, but there is alot of videos and documents available.

It allow us to implment most of our infrastructure planning with great ease and affordabilities
