What I like about Sophos XG is its versatility in tailoring security features to our specific needs. In our environment where certain services are only needed part-time, the flexibility to deploy services selectively is valuable. The comprehensive protection, from firewall to market inspection and routing, ensures a robust defense. I particularly like the visibility it provides into network traffic, allowing us to identify and address issues efficiently.
What needs improvement?
While Sophos XG has been reliable for remote troubleshooting sessions, it would be beneficial if the platform provided more flexible support for a variety of devices. The user interface is intuitive for those familiar with it, but improving accessibility and user guidance could be beneficial for newcomers. Additionally, although the features are comprehensive, fair pricing and more flexibility with device compatibility could make it even more appealing in the market.

I would give it a ten out of ten for scalability. We have approximately 100 users.

Tech support for Sophos XG is great. They are professional, respond quickly, and help resolve issues effectively.

Previously, I have used Fortinet and SonicWall.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Sophos XG is not complex, especially with familiarity and experience. As you work with it over time, it becomes more straightforward, and mastery comes with continuous use. Deployment depends on specific organizational needs, but in general, it involves configuring the connection between the internet and the local network, setting up VLANs, and defining firewall rules. For me, as a consultant, the process varies based on different client scenarios. Sophos XG simplifies the deployment process, and once configured, it efficiently manages network access for different user categories.
What about the implementation team?
I have done both in-house deployments and collaborated with integrators based on the client's preference. As a consultant, I assess the needs, design the setup, and can either guide the in-house team through the deployment or handle it myself. The process involves configuring the live site for optimal security, and in some cases, I work remotely on existing setups. Sophos XG's flexibility makes it feasible for both in-house and external experts to manage the deployment effectively.

Easy to configure Sophos firewall as they giving setup wizard first time configuration, which not given by other firewalls. Ease of implementation, Quick customer support, Frequency of use is daily basis, There are lost of numbers of features & its ease of Integration

Sophos firewall solved customer's internet high bandwidth use problems as well as stopped unauthorized website stopped to access user & it also blocked malicious files to download.

While they are constantly updating security in relation to discovered vulnerabilities, sometimes when performing an update, issues or errors may arise in certain functions. Therefore, it may be necessary to perform a downgrade.

Alongside XGS, I have been able to address performance issues, network monitoring, and administration. It is also highly reliable when it comes to protecting exposed servers.

What do you like best about the product?
Sophos has many great features like Zero threat protection or advanced sandboxing technology which is inbuilt in the firewall itself. The feature is included in the Xstream license .
What do you dislike about the product?
email and WAF doesnt come default . We need to pay extra for it. email security in firewall is not required for us as we use cloud email solution. So if you need WAF, you need to pay extra.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sophos solves Many issues. Product wise it is a robust product, configure properly and it will run without any issues.It supports future OS upgrades unlike other products where they ask to upgrade firewall and we have to pay for the new firewall also. In sophos, if at all you need to upgrade, they will provide new hardware free and we just have to buy the license which is real vendor commitment. Reporting,Zero threat protection and User threat quotient are few beauties that im 100% satisfied about.

What do you like best about the product?
All in one firewall whihc includes detailed reporting and User visibility graph called as UTQ is the best attraction. Also SSL vpn is free with unlimited numbers.
What do you dislike about the product?
prices are comparitively high. mobile vpn applicatino is not available but thats not amndatory as we can use any VPN agent to connect. Apart from that there is no specific concern with my experience on the product as of now.

IT has inbuilt reporting. We dont have to maintain a seperate server or computer for reporting. There is no additional charges for the advanced reporting feature. No charges for SSL VPN

The product is very easy to deploy and manage. We have more than 5 physical locations, and all are being managed centrally from our Head Office (thanks to Sophos Central). Firewall logs are very impressive and easy to understand, it has all the details that a network administrator needs to protect organization from modern threats.
