Awesome Firewall
What do you like best about the product?
The firewall was easy to set up and has great reporting. Having is next-gen firewall has been a great security measure for us. The SSL VPN set up has helped greatly with home users needing access to office printers. The support for the firewall is wonderful.
What do you dislike about the product?
GUI can be more user friendly. Free training for the firewall could be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed home users to have secure VPN access and the firewall provided that for us. Ease of user setup on the firewall and blocking intrusion is nice. Having cloud access to the firewall has been great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sophos has a great firewall and paired with their InterceptX is wonderful. I know my computers, servers, and devices are safe.
I love the XG Firewall, it comes with so many features that give high security to a small business.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it encompasses a number of different feature that allow you to have high protection as a small business.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a little buggy here and there, and support has been pretty bad lately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is so nice to have access to protection at this level within a small business.
Upon purchasing the XG Firewall I was immediately impressed by the simplicity and usability.
What do you like best about the product?
Right out of the box it took less time to setup and integrate to my network than other products that preform similar functions. I have issues with other products that I have not experienced with the XG firewall I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who wants great security with a simple interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is absolutely nothing I can complain about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to limit restricted websites easily as well as presumptively mitigate the various attempts to hack out network that we have dealt with in the past.

What do you like best about the product?
As an MSP, I only use Sophos firewalls for my clients. Since Sophos acquired the Cyberroam product, they've only continued to make it better and better, taking what they learned from the UTM product and putting it into the XG line. Its the only product that works in tandem with your endpoint protection to secure you network. Having the firewall also manage my wireless network, easily keeping guest traffic separate, is another big plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a few minor features that need to be updated, such as the ability to delete dhcp leases or reboot APs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With the integration with Sophos Central, I can manage all of my clients' network protection from one console. I can manage their endpoint protection, their email filtering, as well as their firewall. The XG firewall has been bulletproof for security.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider all of the security and features built-into the product. You pay for different levels of licensing, but basic things like logging are included. With Sophos APs, you can manage your wireless devices with no extra cost. Putting firewall appliances in high availability failover setup is a great feature too.
Very Reliable, Secure, and easy to manage.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to manage all of our XG devices from the Sophos Central portal is amazing. I can log into all devices from one single pane of glass and run reports, check the logs, and make configuration changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had issues setting up high availability on all of our locations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can run reports on all of our locations without having to manage multiple logins. We are using InterceptX in tandem with our XGs and the collaboration between the 2 services is unmatched.
Security of SOPHOS Firewall
What do you like best about the product?
A SOPHOS firewall will monitor traffic in both directions. That is, both your incoming data and your outgoing data, keeping your private information safe. ... Although a SOPHOS firewall provides critical protection to keep your PC safe from unauthorized access
What do you dislike about the product?
it cannot remove malware from a system that has already been infected.

Sophos XG has been great for our business
What do you like best about the product?
I love how granular I can be with our Web policies to protect our users. I can easily use file type restrictions to prevent executable downloads and create a user portal for authorised users to approved downloads too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally firmware updates have been a little buggy upon release. It would be good practise to wait a month if the update is not critical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can easily protect my users from online threats and protect traffic between my local networks. It gives me peace of mind know I can easily solve network problems should they arise.

Very simple user interface, with advanced features at your fingertips

moving from v17 to v18 has been a learning curve has functionality has moved and located in different areas.

ease of use and configuration, simple setup of ssl vpn clients & high availability

High-quality top-of-the-line protection
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy how they add a multitude of features without making you pay a "ransom's" worth of licensing costs. If you increase your bandwidth, the XG doesn't require you to pay an additional licensing fee. This is so rare in the industry these days.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only real thing I disliked was the original process of getting this equipment licensed. We already owned a previous smaller XG model, and we had to work with license support to get a temporary license while we waited for our older model's license to expire. Other than that it is excellent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to get ISP WAN load balancing, reduce bandwidth licensing costs, and add additional DDOS and other security features.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sophos is a great company and really willing to work with you on discounts. I recommend starting early and negotiating with them to get the best deal upfront. Additionally, I recommend if you buy an XG to dump your other products that this can take the place of. Save yourself some money and use the XG to it's potential!
