A refreshing change!
What do you like best about the product?
Where do I begin? Transformed my 6-year old laptop that was crawling under Windows to a snappy-fast machine. Linux has reached a stage where it is a serious operating system that caters to different users, from novice computer users to power users. The interface is very easy to understand, the system comes with Libre Office that is a worthy alternative to MS Windows, and much, much more. I was a Windows holdout for a long time. Really liked Windows 7. Skipped Windows 8. Loathed Windows 10. It seemed like my laptop had a mind of its own when running Windows. There was this feeling that my laptop was sneakily doing something behind my back. I felt that this version of Windows is just .... kludgy. And there ware the constant Windows updates.... After I got blue screens on multiple occasions, I realized it was time to move on. And I haven't looked back.
Ubuntu gave a new life to my old laptop. I am able to perform all tasks that I used to do on Windows without any issues. Most of the software packages are free. It is reassuring to know that you can take any old laptop and as long as you backup your files and the logic board is still alive and kicking, your computer will live on. Hard drive died? No problem, just install a new hard drive, reinstall Ubuntu for free, copy your files from your backup, and you are back on the road. While Macs do offer this feature, the hardware for Mac is still quite expensive. With Ubuntu, you can buy an old laptop and get yourself a decent performer for very little money.

What do you dislike about the product?
Support for Linux distros is not fully there yet. There still some areas where the interface is not as polished as, say, a Mac (document viewer comes to mind). Still, for what it is, the operating system is incredible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primary operating system, freed myself from the clutches of Windows.
Very useful for work, that's all
What do you like best about the product?
An open source operational system ( free ), a great tool if you work with IT( design, develop), because its very light ( you dont have to use an ultra powerful computer to run it ), simple and different from Windows for example(its really hard to crash).
What do you dislike about the product?
We are all used to Windows so the first touch with Linux can be very strange and hard to use, its interface is not friendly at all and another complaining about Ubuntu is that their drivers are not always up to date so many hardware/software cant be used by this OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using Ubuntu to work with some development, i'm studying System Development and this tool is really useful, its much faster and lighter than Windows
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend it if you're trying to work with IT, not for usual use, its hard and not friendly at all, but if you're used to technology, then you wont find much issues.
Operating System for Programmers and Developers
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu comes loaded with a lot features which can help programmers and developers. It uses very less resources of my computer which enables me to run my desktop application smoothly without any lag or disturbance. It gives me the ability to control all my processes and it has an amazing interface. It is best for Full Stack Development and the best part is that it is open source.
Ubuntu is best Linux distribution for Application Development, Web Development and Competitive Programming.
Ubuntu is best Linux distribution for Application Development, Web Development and Competitive Programming.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is more of a command line interface, so Windows GUI is much better than it. The booting time can be slower and we have to configure it a lot to do certain tasks which we can easily do in Windows Operating System. It is hard to to use for new user due to it's complicated structure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently doing our Full Stack Web Development work in Ubuntu for our company. It is mainly developed from Development point of view which makes it a suitable Operating System for any type of Development Purposes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are focusing on development, then you must start using Ubuntu. It can make your work a lot easier and you can feel it's power in comparison to Windows. It is the best Operating System for Web development and Application Development.
A good choice if you work in software industry.
What do you like best about the product?
If you don't like something is really easy to get your hands dirty and change whatever you want, easier than other Linux options in the command parts and you have more freedom than with Windows or Mac.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes you have to search for a long time in order to make something work because almost all software is prepared for mainstream solutions like Windows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We only use ubuntu to code because it seems to work better with low level code in C.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you work in the software industry you have heard of it, maybe this is the time to give it a try.
An operating system for developers
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity. Everything is simple, from installing all you required software using the distribution package manager, to customizing your user account. The operating system doesn't get into your way so you can focus on getting your tasks done.
What do you dislike about the product?
Diversity. There's too much choice, but this is related to Linux in general. In my opinion, having fewer, but better tools for doing the same task would allow to concentrate efforts, getting a better product overall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Ubuntu as a workstation for software developers. We benefit from a developer friendly environment, all kind of tools and programs, and ease of use. And it's also open source and free of charge.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can test this software on your computer without installing it, to get a taste of it. Be aware, however, that performance won't be as good as if it was installed and properly configured with the best suitable drivers for your hardware.
The best open source system
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about ubuntu is that it is a free code operating system besides that it offers a lot of facilities for developers and the best is its package manager apt
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I do not like about ubuntu, all are advantages over other operating systems
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The use that we give you mainly is to develop the software that we use in addition to using it for our servers
Better than the rest
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very elegant and intuitive. The terminal and command line are also super intuitive and easy to use. It is completely free and the support is very good. The operating system is very stable and easy to configure and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I don't like, I've been using Ubuntu since school, up to today, and even when some clients ask me, I recommend it without a doubt.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu has made our workers learn about the Linux world in a very easy way. And it has provided us with many tools that we couldn't obtain in Windows and almost all for free.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using another "open source" system, I advise you to switch to Ubuntu. It offers many more facilities than any other and also offers hundreds of free programs, all of which are "open source" so you have the convenience of using them as you like without restrictions like in Windows. So I advise you to switch to Ubuntu without hesitation.
Ubuntu User Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is the most user friendly distro among the entire Linux ecosystem. Over the year, many improvements have been brought to the User Interface and now with Ubuntu 18.04, things have completely changed. Many bugs have been fixed, UI has been fine tuned to suit even a beginner user and thus the learning curve for Linux has become linear now with Software Centre providing apps for all your daily needs.
Comparing with windows, would definitely recommend Ubuntu as a go-to solution for all your speed problems. Unlike windows, this Operating System doesn't get slow with time and process management is very efficient, thus your PC runs very smoothly.
Finally, for those geeks out there, you already know working with terminal is the best experience. You can practically control every aspect of the Operating System since it's open source and speaking of security, there are very less virus attacks that happen on Ubuntu since the package installation process and root system architecture is very secure.

What do you dislike about the product?
>At the initial phases of Ubuntu, the user experience was bad with the learning curve too steep, but with the recent releases this gap has been filled.
>There are still some bugs that pop out rarely that interfere with hardware like Bluetooth which depends on device.
>For the GAMERS out there, I WOULD NOT recommend Ubuntu for you. Windows is the best option for you as a wide list of games are supported there. In Ubuntu only lite games are supported.
>Many apps are still not present in Ubuntu like iTunes which can be a problem to apple users.

The biggest benifit through Linux Distros like Ubuntu is at the server side. Since it being lite and has a wide compatibility it can be used in the clouds and IoT very well.
Then, it is a biggest boon for the programmers since a wide array of libraries, languages and IDEs are supported with the added advantage of Terminal.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make the switch now. Thank me Later! And if you're stuck on anything, there's a huge developer community for Ubuntu out there and I'm sure your problems would be solved in a breeze.

Free operating system
What do you like best about the product?
The best part is that since it is based on Linux, it is a free operating system. For users who are not very familiar with Linux, it is ideal because it is very similar to Windows.
This operating system takes up very little space and manages processes more efficiently than Windows.
It has a large community behind it, always making improvements and updates daily.

What do you dislike about the product?
The downside is that most games or programs are not available for download on this operating system; you must download a program like Wine to be able to use software that you could install on Windows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is free, which saves money on purchasing a license. Also, most viruses do not affect this operating system as they are created for Windows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend the use of Ubuntu not only for the price but for the freedom of having free software and being able to configure it to your liking.
