Real-Time Dashboards and Strong Support for Structured Data
What do you like best about the product?
Store both structured and semi-structured data and provide real-time dashboards for monitoring
What do you dislike about the product?
It is expensive and sometimes less flexible for unstructured data
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Preparation, training data sets, regulatory data warehouses and for customer analytics the attribution modelling
Effortless Scaling with Great Data Sharing but Watch Costs
What do you like best about the product?
I really like Snowflake's elastic scaling; it's my favorite part. We can run huge queries without managing servers, and it pauses automatically, so we only pay for what we use. The data sharing feature also works great. Sharing live data securely with partners avoids copying and keeps everyone synced on one version of the truth. Snowflake integrates well with the common stack; we use dbt for transformations, Airflow for orchestration, Looker and Tableau for BI, and Python for data science work. We moved from Redshift to Snowflake, which made scaling easier and separated storage from compute, cutting a lot of the cluster management headaches we had before. The setup was quick for the basics, and we had a warehouse running and data loading in under an hour.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost can spike if queries aren't optimized, since you pay per compute second. The UI for permissions and roles is also clunky and takes time to get right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake handles scaling data storage, accelerates analytics, unifies siloed data, and reduces infrastructure costs for growing data teams.
Scalable, Fast, and Secure Data Analytics Platform
What do you like best about the product?
I like Snowflake for its very fast query performance and good integration with ETL and BI tools. I also enjoy the secure data sharing capabilities across teams and projects. It supports semi-structured data like JSON, which makes data ingestion easier from APIs and applications. Auto-scaling is a big plus, saving time because we don't need to manually manage servers during high workloads. The ability to seamlessly scale up or down based on data load is crucial and Snowflake excels in this. It works well with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. I appreciate its high performance for SQL queries and analytics, which helps business teams get reports quickly for decision-making. Its strong support for analytics and reporting workloads is impressive, and I find it a very good choice for large-scale data processing.
What do you dislike about the product?
One challenge with Snowflake is cost management. Some areas that could be improved include better cost optimization and monitoring features and improved real-time streaming support for some use cases. There's also a high dependence on cloud connectivity. Specific difficulties in cost management include virtual warehouses that may keep running even when no queries are executing, difficulty in identifying which queries or users are causing high costs, and heavy queries consuming more compute credits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake efficiently handles large data, improves query performance, and reduces infrastructure maintenance. It allows storing, processing, and sharing data securely, supports diverse data types, and enables separate workloads without interference, enhancing team collaboration.
Fast Data Processing with Innovative Features
What do you like best about the product?
I find Snowflake extremely useful as a data warehousing tool because it's really fast and offers a lot of tools for processing massive data. I'm really interested in its latest feature, Cortex AI, which I believe can solve many issues my developers face. Cortex AI enables me and my team to integrate data sources and create dashboards in just minutes. It's really helpful for my team in connection with my AWS tools. Also, the initial setup of Snowflake was relatively easy, and I haven't faced any issues while working outside of my firm's compliance constraints.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, love the product and have never had issues with it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake is really fast and offers several tools for processing massive data. Cortex AI helps integrate data sources and create dashboards quickly, which is very helpful for my team.
Seamless Performance with Separate Compute & Storage and Zero-Copy Cloning
What do you like best about the product?
When I was in my previous company I have been using this tool. The best part about Snowflake is that the storage and compute are completely separate. In my daily workflow, this means our data science team can run massive, heavy queries at the exact same time our business analysts are running their daily dashboards, and absolutely nothing slows down. I also love the Zero-Copy Cloning feature. It lets me create a replica of our production data for testing in just a few seconds without wasting time or storage costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the auto-scaling is great, you have to be really careful with setting up warehouse timeouts. If an analyst accidentally leaves a massive virtual warehouse running or sets the auto-suspend time too high, it can rack up unexpected compute costs very quickly. It requires strict monitoring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves our data concurrency and speed issues. Before Snowflake, our old database would choke when too many people logged in at 9 AM. Now, it automatically scales up to handle the morning rush and scales down when people go home. It saves our data engineering team hours every week because we don't have to manually manage database indexes or cluster partitions anymore.
Bridges Data Gaps with Ease and Efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how Snowflake brings together siloed data that I would otherwise not have access to. It's incredibly easy for the data team to work with tables, which expedites our use cases significantly across business units. Snowflake is bridging a data gap that is very significant for operational use cases. Integrating it with other systems, such as our email platforms and CRMs, is also really helpful. From what I heard, the initial setup was straightforward.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some data delays
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Snowflake to bring together siloed data, making it accessible. It's significant for operational use cases across business units. It also expedites use cases and integrates well with emails and CRMs.
Easy to Use with Impressive New Features
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use is a big plus for me. I also like the new features that have been added, including the Cortex AI capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing else to add right now, except that Snowflake’s pay-as-you-go model can often lead to ballooning costs, and its proprietary features can create significant vendor lock-in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No hardware maintenance is needed, and access to diverse data sources is simplified, so teams can focus on analysis
Flexible, Scalable Columnar Cloud Database with Strong Performance and Integrations
What do you like best about the product?
Its flexibility to grow from a very small free POC to a global multiregion data system with AI, both technologically and in price. This is extremely useful for both startups and enterprises. Its ability to remain open and integrable with standard protocols. And the performance is good for a columnar cloud database.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s price structure once you move to yearly agreements. The sales teams are too greedy and if you are not careful they’ll happily make you pay more than what you really need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrations, centralized analytics, and cover some simple data visualization needs.
All-In-One Data Solution with High Costs
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how Snowflake is a very easy-to-use data warehouse where we can store all our data and then write queries in the notebook and do visualization right there. It's the all-in-one feature of Snowflake that stands out, combining the query notebook and visualization all in one place. It's super easy to get someone up and running with Snowflake, as opposed to having to connect a creator to the data warehouse and connecting a BI tool to it. This ease of use, just getting the team ready and working within minutes, makes Snowflake valuable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think primarily the cost factor, it's way too expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Snowflake as an easy-to-use data warehouse for storing data, writing queries, and doing visualizations all in one place. It streamlines getting the team set up quickly without needing multiple tools.
Fast Queries and Easy Query History Lookup
What do you like best about the product?
I like how quickly it runs queries, and how easy it is to look up past queries in the query history.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like that the interface changes very often, and sometimes it isn’t clear how to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I like the way it shows query errors.
