Essential software

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is a must have, part of the plumbing of working on the internet. It's reliable, seamless, simple, yet feature rich and sophisticated. And most of all, secure. In a decade of use I've never lost a file or had a breakin. Keep up the good work! I use it all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I almost forget about it, once it's installed and set up. This isn't Dropbox's fault, but it's just such a seamless, smooth process, that sometimes I default to using other backup/sync systems and only later do I realize how inferior they are.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy file sync and share.

Simple, reliable service to store all my documents

  • March 17, 2024

What do you like best about the product?
The service is rock solid. I trust that my documents will be safely synced to all my devices. The web app has a well-organized structure that makes accessing files easy. Sharing documents with others is intuitive. The app is easy to set up on a Mac and works well with the built-in file system.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Mac app tends to use more resources than I'd like. It seems that there are many extra services Dropbox provides that I don't need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing files with other users.

Great desktop app and good cross platform integration

  • March 17, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The desktop application worked flawlessly, it was extremely easy to use it and to keep my files organized. The mobile app was also excelent and allowed me to access files without a problem.

The web interface has a great many deal features revolving arround tagging to better organize pictures.

Compared to OneDrive, the windows integration was leaps and bound ahead, as I had extreme teething issues configuring OneDrive while Dropbox worked flawlessly out of the box.

The automated backup was very helpfull and allowed me to restore lost files quickly and easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing was steep, I had better cost per Tb with other vendors using family plans.

The web interface in case you where to managed your files via Web-browser was often slow and unresponsive. Although very rich, things like adding tags ended up being a chore as I had to do it on a per picture basis.

Downloading my files took longer then other cloud storage providers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Dropbox professionally to keep a backup of important files as well as to keep code I was working on readily avaiable. I also used it to store imagery and videos related to lessons I gave and having them avaiable to multiple people.

On the personnal side, it worked as a storage for anything I intended to keep longterm, from personal documents to family pictures.
