Dropbox for Business

  • October 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Dropbox Business is ease of use. Sharing files and folders is quick and takes little effort. The ability to share information among different business units and sites within my organization and with others outside my organization makes Dropbox Business my go-to tool for collaboration.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I specifically dislike about Dropbox Business. It currently meets my professional needs and those of my organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use Dropbox Business to share files and information among business units and sites within my organization and, occasionally with others outside of my company. The biggest benefit is the opportunity to collaborate quickly and easily with colleagues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an easy to use, straight-forward, basic information sharing tool, Dropbox Business is your go-to tool.

One of the Best Tools for File Management

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
During the time I have used Dropbox I absolutely enjoy the ability to easily connect and pull up my files from anywhere and any device whether it is my Computer, Laptop, or Phone, to my work computer, friend's or wife's device, etc. I rely on Dropbox as my secondary hard drive for my computer and store all of my files there. I use and access the files I have saved there on a constant basis and use them daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I struggle on with Dropbox, and this isn't even their issue, is that it is just another service to have running. I'm one that likes to consolidate as much as possible and an external system make that a little difficult. However that is the only real issue I have, and like I said it isn't one that is the fault of the company at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being a work from home Front End Web Developer, sometimes my job requires me to have meetups with my boss, or different clients. With Dropbox I don't have to worry about lugging along an external hard drive, pen drive, or other tools. If I have my laptop (or access to anyone else's laptop or computer) I can easily access my files and we can discuss, edit, and re-sync these products back to the cloud where I have access to them again on my home machine. The ease of file sharing, editing, and collaboration is one of the biggest assets of Dropbox.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Dropbox for everything. I rarely store things on my desktop anymore. The only things that are actually saved on my computer are games and programs which require my ram and hard drive to run. EVERY other file I own is stored on Dropbox. Approximately 2 years ago I had to actually pay for the upgrade to Dropbox for more space and have not regretted it since.

DropBox Is A Dead-Simple Cloud File Storage/Sharing Platform Though Not As Feature-Rich

  • June 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?

Nearly ubiquitous, works across every imaginable platform. We can email military employees DropBox links to their restricted Windows 7 PCs just as easily as iOS users. Receipients can collaborate without installing software, signing up for accounts etc. We can also get our employees access to company assets without requiring VPN setups and client security profiles. Bottom line, it just works and its easy enough that 1 person can administer around 80 users and hundreds of TBs.
What do you dislike about the product?

Slow implementation of features. DropBox paper was announced and beta'd and demoed for months before we were able to try it. Only now is it usable enough to have us leverage it rather than Google Docs et all. Eventually it will reached parity with their feature set but for now our users have to make some compromises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

When it comes to cloud storage, it all comes down to reliability, access and versatility. DropBox has never gone down for us, nor have we had any indication that they have been breached, sold our information, etc etc. With additional encryption, thet have met every contractual requirement for every government and military client we have worked with. They are on par pricing-wise, and we have consistently negotiated better rates based on user renewals.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Determine if you are going to need to pay for other services in addition to DropBox if you need things like onsite zero-knowledge encryption or real time collaboration in traditional file formats (MIcrosoft Office). We resorted to using Boxcryptor for encryption and converting a chunk of our staff off of Google Docs and Office 365 (we have government contractual obligations to encrypt certain users' files).

Dropbox works but doesn't have the most flexible security

  • January 07, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is the universal leader in storage and integrates with almost every product that can be integrated to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Users and security are not nearly sufficient enough for businesses. Subfolders cannot be shared differently that the parent folders. We could not use it to share client information for that reason.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We no longer have a server so we need a way to store files and also share them with customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider carefully what your security needs are and whether Dropbox can fulfill your needs. That has been my biggest disappointment.

Convenient, but not perfect

  • August 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The convenience of reaching files from anywhere. I like that files can be stored locally on a personal computer, in addition to just being "in the cloud."
What do you dislike about the product?
When I use the website to download and open a file at work, changes on the file aren't automatically updated to the file online unless you save it and upload it. I understand that it's part of the trade-off with using files that are opened on the computer itself and not online. It also limits collaboration. I also know that's the point of Dropbox Paper, but I've never used that because my workplace uses Google Drive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a teacher, I do a lot of work on my home computer that I then need to easily access from computers around the school. Dropbox allows me to do that, whether it's with Word documents, Powerpoints, or other files.
