Developing courses require a lot of training, but once over that hump with the help of D2L's team, we expect to stand out in our elearning offerings.

D2L Brightspace Review
What do you like best about the product?
D2L Brightspace is user friendly and intuitive. This old man did not know how to spell D2L when he started working with it and was able to contribute in a very short time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It feels like D2L is more focused on new bells and whistles than fixing existing problems. From a market share perspective I totally understand, but from a user perspective it can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work at a Community and Technical College and we have some instructors that are still techno-phobic. But once they start using D2L Brightspace they are able to experience the simplicity and are able to use at least some of it's capabilities.
Flexible and strong LMS
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspace is a very strong, flexible LMS. Although it may seem complex for first time users, once you get past the initial set up the tool is really powerful. Depending on your role you might find lots of useful tools. I personally enjoy the way in which data is presented to get easy to read reports and feedback on all user's and their interactions inside the LMS. I also appreciate being part of the ASC community where all active users can share ideas, tips, find peer support and even submit new ideas for development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial setup might take an extended amount of work and dedication. It is important to dedicate enough planning and time to define its characteristics, rules and functioning. Otherwise, you will face lots of trouble later on when trying to apply settings and rules to specific courses or units, and making any change will feel as if you are starting all over again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their focus on flexibility and eas of use is really important and useful for all kinds of users. It almost feels as if everything in the course design and teaching can be solved by drag & drop with minimal technical knowledge.
D2l Brightspace is consistantly solid and the most recent release is a modern and dynamic platform.
What do you like best about the product?
With the number of innovations they have added, it is a dynamic, nimble LMS. The ability to add widgets, custom-scored rubrics that look good, and a modern mobile interface has been critical.
What do you dislike about the product?
It gets antiquated quickly; my institution was on version 14.x, and it was dated and quickly missing modern features. It also looked very blocky and was more text driven than icon driven.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When COVID hit, our LMS was a supplemental tool for face-to-face classes and essential for online learning; post covid, even for face-to-face classes, it became critical.
A Brighter Space for Communication
What do you like best about the product?
D2L Brightspace allows me to communicate effectively with my students and allows them to communicate with their peers. It has a really good interface and is well organized. theres also room to customize.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be tricky sometimes to navigate within the setup process. Sometimes I feel as though there needs to be a step by step instruction booklet on how to setup all the necessities within the courses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace helps make communication possible in multiple ways and offers benefits not only to instructors but students as well. The platform has helped our performance increase due to the high demand of entering college students
Brightspace is the Best!
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspace is intuitive and easy to use, even for new beginners. The ability to quickly drag and drop content onto a page is time-saving. Assignments, discussions, and grade books are easy to create and keep up to date. Anyone using integrations of different software programs will find them easy to set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to D2L is the creation of the attendance register, and it is still easier than most LMS systems. It would be great to pick a date range and days that the class meets, to set up the attendance. There is a college that made a software program to do just that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The statistics package they have - Insights - helps our faculty to view their course from different angles to inform them if changes needs to be made to their classes. Student success is a must.
Interactive LMS Brings Options to Its Users
What do you like best about the product?
D2L Brightspace continues to provide its users with a learning management system that is interactive, clean in design, and adaptable to various learning modalities. As a course reviewer, I work in a range of systems and have found the setup of Brightspace to be user-friendly. This supports students in spending their time on content versus struggling with navigation. The communication tools are beneficial for all users. The Brightspace Community is a great support and the PIE system is an effective means to address upgrades from actual users.
What do you dislike about the product?
While improving, the consistency of experience from tool to tool still needs work. The workflow can vary which causes extra work for course developers. Some features can be cost-prohibitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a public community college that offers for-credit courses and training in a range of modalities. Moving from modality to modality is easy within Brightspace and allows developers to customize where and when it is needed. This reduces cost overall to maintain a vast catalog of course offerings.
A Great LMS with many features
What do you like best about the product?
D2L has many tools to automate classes so that it requires a lot less work from our faculty and staff.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside that I can think of, is that sometimes SCORM packages grades do not sync to the gradebook correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Students can receive email notifications and feedback automatically.
