A very compelling LMS
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspace is a hugely capable LMS yet very easy and intuitive to use for both learners, tutors and trainers, and administrators. However, what is most impressive about Brighspace is its commitment to learning. Brightspace delivers learning with a crisp and fresh UI and UX, delivering accessibility and engagement. For tutors and trainers, Brightspace makes creating learning content and courses quick, easy and efficient. Brightspace is fully mobile enabled, and there are no compromises between desktop or mobile devices; each learning experience is equally effective. Brightspace specializes in aligning learning to performance outcomes and has a comprehensive kit bag to do this, ranging from competency frameworks and sophisticated learning pathways to creating profession maps. The learning rubric is particularly useful in understanding how skills and competencies are developed and how learners are performing. Brightspace adds the all too often missing ingredient of feedback, which tutors or line managers can offer using audio or video files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Brightspace is not a simple SCORM pusher LMS; it is a sophisticated LMS that requires considerable effort to set up and configure. The effort invested in setup and configuration will pay huge dividends. The D2L team offers exceptionally high support to Brightspace users at setup and for the long term. So Brightspace is a sophisticated solution for organizations that are investing in learning and increasing the abilities of their employees.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspace solves a range of problems for organizations. Brightspace brings learning engagement due to its intuitive UI and UX. Brightspace allows content to be quickly curated or created on the platform. With no programming or design skills needed, tutors or trainers can quickly and easily create excellent digital learning materials. Brightspace saves organizations time as it allows content to be rapidly developed in context, ensuring learning is relevant. Brightspace has sophisticated learning analytics available so that the organization can measure the effectiveness of any learning provision and issues identified and rectified quickly and easily.

It is essential to understand your learning requirements and understand that Brightspace is a sophisticated solution. Getting the best from this fantastic technology (and excellent support) requires your involvement and imagination.
An extremely stable learning platform with deep learning tools
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspace contains a deep set of learning tools. The student's engagement increases as more tools are utilized. Brightspace support is excellent, proactive, and effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found any downside to using Brightspace. Not every tool an instructor may want to use is natively within Brightspace. However, there are usually ways to link things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspace provides a learning platform that is flexible and quickly developed. Students could access learning modules at any time, place, or anywhere.
I'd do it over and over again...
What do you like best about the product?
Everything! Their customer service and support is, by far, the best. They listen to their customers and actually implement ideas from them. They have additional services available that can make your experience much more enjoyable as well, such as the TAM and LAM programs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say that there is anything in particular that I dislike. It's frustrating to wait for awesome features to come out, but anything of value is worth the wait. They have done a lot over the last 10 years to make improvements to many of their services and processes that have had a positive impact and remedy any potential for negativity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The LAM program has been particularly beneficial for us as we start to transition in the wake of the retirement of our LMS admin (me!). The LAM will ensure continuity of service while a replacement is trained and up-to-speed on our processes. Also integrations. Brightspace plays well with others and allows for the implementation of publisher content, other vendor tools, etc. to make the learning environment that much more enjoyable for faculty and students.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have been fantastic since Day 1 for us. I have developed lasting relationships with many of the D2Lers I've met and with whom I've worked over the years. They are also a VERY good company to work for and they provide recognition for their people, which I believe is why they are recognized frequently as a great business.
How to keep material organized
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to have your classes well organized. Once you log in, you know exactly what to choose. Besides, you have 2 ways to select your class.
Also, the content of each class is easily visible and organized by chapters. I love the feature of hiding the material and making it visible when I want.
Another feature that I used a lot was the calendar on the home page. Whenever I needed to plan something, it was accessible and easy to look ahead.
I like the feature about entering grades. It is easy to apply and save. It does not time out and the columns are easy to create. It gives enough time to enter and check for mistakes before saving the information.
Being able to customize the classes makes it feel personalized. This is great not only for the teacher, but for the student as well. You can add photos which students love to see. Being able to personalize the material is a big plus.
Brightspace also give opportunity to those students who have been absent from school to keep informed and in education. They can log in anywhere and complete the assigned material. Not only has this been important during the pandemic but also coming back to school. Many students had to stay home due to being close contacts to a covid patient, but they were able to keep informed and finish their school year successfully.

You have to upload the material per block instead of having to do it once, and just applying it to all the desired classes. This system is time-consuming and unnecessary. I would love to see a feature where you can schedule when the material is visible, but able to upload just once.
Another suggestion would be with the feedback. I have the experience as a teacher and as a mother, and it seems that I have to be looking for feedback instead of getting a notification.

Personally I have not solved any problems with D2L. We have some representatives in school that are aware of all the issues that can arise and we rely on them.
So far the issues mentioned above don't have a quick fix but it would be something brightspace could work on.

I was able to put together a coherent, well structured arts program within one platform.
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to upload rubrics makes grading a cinch! The ability to offer feedback to students via audio, writing, and images meets with art course needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes time and much effort to learn how to use the platform, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes a potent tool.

I was able to grade from an array of devices and places.

What do you like best about the product?
What is most helpful in Brightspace is that it is straightforward to use. The content bar was beneficial in organizing my class for my students. It has made our online experience better, with many tools and applications for class and teaching. I love that everything is in one same platform just one click away.

One should be able to apply the same content to multiple sections, there should be an option to upload content for the same subject to multiple sections.

I can easily organized my course content, and my students have been able to understand the information and follow it better. My students are greateful for the easy use of my content page! Its user friendly and easy to follow.

Its user a friendly and great tool to organize class information. Communication with students improves with Brightsapce. There are many tools available that make your life easier.

The way each course can be designed with diffrenet amazing formats by the teacher and the versatility of content.

Sometimes some tools are hard to use and not user-friendly; content can sometimes be hard to share, and grades are not compatible with plus portals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I solve the organization of content and how students find information. I have realized that it is a great tool to share various multimedia content for my courses.

Brightspace is an excellent tool if you review all the tutorials before using it. It helps both teacher and student create fantastic courses, with great content and easy ways of submitting their work.

Brightspace is very helpful in many ways, for example, the grade book and assignments.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I like the least is that you can not do the same thing in different courses simultaneously. The other thing I do not like is the number of steps to link a grade item to an assignment or any other feature to be graded.
And finally, the student's view is very different from the teacher's view. Honestly, it could be easier if students could see the same as teachers to avoid the problems of finding material or assignments on the Content page.

What is very helpful is the grade book is easy to fill in and track students' progress. Another important thing is the checklists, is easy for students to follow up using this feature.

Watch video tutorials to find out how to use Brightspace is very helpful but having the chance to try it is better.
The Ultimate Learning Management System
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the adaptability of the HTML editor. In fact, my organization has built its internal campus portal on Brightspace's homepage. This product allows us to make our campus portal and learning management system not only accessible but also robust. In addition, Brightspace offers my organization a single location and "home" to all college communications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Accordions and tabs can be tricky in the HTML editor.
Another issue I have seen is the Google sign-in error, where users cannot access embedded Google files; they are sent in an infinite sign-in loop, where they are asked to "Sign in" and do in a new window. As soon as the credentials are taken, they are kicked back to the "Sign in" page. This issue stems from creating a link in a module instead of uploading or linking a Google Drive file from one's own Drive. However, one cannot upload a Google Drive file if the file lives in a Shared Drive.
I would like to see Shared Drive capabilities.
Other than that, I have no complaints.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One problem my organization solved by using Brightspace is replacing our campus portal with D2L's product. We are currently in the middle of this project and are creating new content pages for the various departments on campus. This internal college platform and learning management system has not only saved our college money but also provides a single location for all campus-needed communications (academic and internal communications).

I highly recommend this product. It is accessible and robust.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is that we can teach online and share with our students' videos, make group projects, and even give a test on the same platform. I also like the fact that when students were submitting late, they would show us the number of hours or even days that they had submitted late. This was a backup that we had if parents had questions about their children.
What do you dislike about the product?
To tell the truth, at the beginning I found it very hard to use. Not very friendly because it was extremely hard to transfer information from one block to the other. Now it has become easier but I wish that this transferring of information would be more user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to work with students during COVID times. A great tool to work online and I loved the fact that we could post announcements with a specific day to be delivered. It also helped us with grades. Easy way to submit grades and have their averages ready.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When copying one class to the other is best to work on the whole unit before you start to send it to other classes as you might have unnecessary duplicates.
What I did was that I went to block A, made sure I had all the info needed for the unit, and then I made the transfer to other classes.
