D2L has a strong passion for education and is changing the way the world learns
What do you like best about the product?
VHS Learning has been hosting all of our 250+ online courses through Brightspace since 2009. Brightspace is a solid, stable, and easy-to-use courseware platform with a decent number of classroom engagement tools and is extendable through standard APIs. D2L's commitment to educators, administrators, and the students they serve is unparalleled.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ideally, we would like to see D2L focus more dev efforts on collaboration, interaction, and community building tools and features as part of the base product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
VHS Learning is a nonprofit collaboration of 700+ member schools across the nation and around the world. We're providing students (grades 6-12) and teachers with collaborative and engaging learning opportunities to supplement what is offered at their local schools. Our teacher-led courses/classrooms are 100% online, our student body is from all time zones, and our students are taking these robust courses for credit through their local high schools. D2L Brightspace allows us to provide all of our courses through a single online course platform with navigation and tools that are easy to use for teachers, students, course developers, and admin alike. The stability and "invisibility" of the technology and platform allow our participants to focus on the content, curriculum, and learning activities first and foremost.

What do you like best about the product?

What do you dislike about the product?
In general, everything is excellent. I would improve the user navigation between courses. As a new program and application, the knowledge when starting is hard to get, but in terms of usability, everything is excellent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Courses and third apps integration are the benefits I can mention, are helping us decide to change our LMS. In terms of usability, Brightspace gives us all the necessary tools to implement and join the academic guidelines, we used to create on the previous LMS.
In terms of reports the platform is above we needed, and this is one of the most interesting things in britgspace, we enjoy the opportunitie to play, learn and develop courses in the platform.

Brigthspace platform is one of the most incredible virtual educational environments, because of every single tool it has, but because of the support team on behalf.
Talking from our Personal experience, the implementation team was very active on every single question we have, and this is what a client is looking for in a new system, the human fact.
I can say to the reader if you have a brightspace system be sure that an excellent, professional, emphatic, disposed team is ready to hear and help you on the implementation of the platform for your company. So it's not a hard decision, join brigthspace world.

State of the Art LMS
What do you like best about the product?
I will remark tow main aspects from D2L Brightspace. I the first place, it's minimalist approach is magnificent. The graphic interface has no redundant elements, because every label, icon and button has an specific purpose. These aspect makes that every interaction with D2L Brightspace is an exceptional experience.
On the other hand, D2L Brightspace has paid attention to the usability, making the LMS very easy to use for both teachers and students. This has a direct impact in many situations. For instance, when you need to promote a transition from a different LMS, it wil be more easy and smooth when the new LMS has so many advantage. Another example is related to the student's learning experience. In the case of D2L Brightspace, the user experience that it provides will impact the student's motivation, focus and quality of learning.

I will like to have more personalization options regarding D2L Brightspace's visualization and graphic identity. In our institution is really important to have the option of change certain graphic elements of D2L Brightspace in order to create a "brand" for the different academic programs. This "brand" allows that the students of a specific academic program feel the LMS as their own, as a special place when only they can access and encounter with their teachers and partners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my university, we needed an effective way to track students progress through competencies. so D2L integrated solution is ideal.

In the first place, I will recommend D2L Brightspace to anyone, no questions asked! It is and extraordinary platform that will support and enhance the educational experience of any institution.

The exams library. Because I build an exam, and somebody can modify in the future for a new exam to another group

What I do not like about bright space is that it does not have shortcuts when assigning something in different blocks/classes at the same time.

It is a friendly tool for students. Everything is clear.
Brightspace by D2L, our best ally
What do you like best about the product?
It allowed us to successfully cope with confinement with an agile transition. It was very easy to train all our teachers in the basic use in a very short time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is an easy-to-use, integrated tool for video conferencing that also allows sessions to be recorded and shared.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With this LMS Ibero Tijuana he was able to continue his academic life normally despite the imposed social distancing. The community stays together and in continuous communication
Brightspace for Distance Learning and in-person Learning
What do you like best about the product?
I like that BS has a personalized page for every subject, where you can have tabs for assignments, grades, and more. Announcements are shown clearly on every course home page, and it is helpful to link pages and files there.
I like how the content is organized in modules and includes checkmarks for completion. Checkmarks make it easy to follow, and kids can keep track of what they have completed or not. The "content" tab is easy to navigate, and you can include slides, links, videos, assignments, and more.

What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that you cannot edit classes in bulk. When teaching the same subject/grade but different sections, you sometimes want to post the same thing to every section, and doing this is hard.
It is often not very user-friendly; kids have a hard time learning how to navigate the platform. It has many links and tabs, and a lot of micromanaging is needed to update or fully use a teacher page.
I wish we could incorporate our zoom links there, and kids could access the call through BS instead of posting the link on our announcements. Submission is sometimes glitchy. Sometimes, uploaded documents take some time to load or get stuck.

During distance learning, we needed a place where we could have grades, assignments, and lesson files together, and BS solved this. We needed something that gave kids an organized module format for distance learning, and this is the best one yet! The "content" tab is easy to navigate, and you can include slides, links, videos, assignments, and more.

Professional, friendly and absolute joy to work with
What do you like best about the product?
The incredibly helpful staff have really made the difference and ensured that what was already a great product actually stood out from others that were also good products but not as good an experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's time-consuming in the case of you start to get really sucked into experimenting with different tools and really want to spend the majority of your working time just on the platform; even this isn't remotely a negative but has the most potential to cause a disturbance in working life.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest issue we had was finding a product that met basic business needs but also provided an easy, fast way to get the programmes online and not cause chaos in the schedules of different people across the team for training and preparation time. The benefits to the programmes themselves once online were clear for all to see, and the low amount of time it has taken to get them to that point was remarkable.
CEIPA a Higher Education Institution with a campus as big as Colombia power by Brightspace
What do you like best about the product?
We had been using Brightspaces for the last six years. During this time, CEIPA had improved the quality of the virtual services for all our students. Thanks to D2L, students can carrier the university in their pockets and study whenever they want. Brightspace responded perfectly in COVID-19 pandemic. With Brightspace we can assure the academic policies. We are going to implement the competency module to trace the assurance of learning that have great information for the academic process. In all those years we have been working with Brightspaces we never have stopped the services to our student's.
What do you dislike about the product?
I encourage D2L to launch and App for tables so students can have more access to the LMS. Brightspaces have all the data to create and dashboard to help the user to understand better what is happening in the institution. There are different tools and some are difficult to find the documentation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CEIPA is dual modality institution. We offer on-line and in-person but all students have the same platform Brightspaces. Thanks to Brightspaces the students can essealy change form one modality to another when they need it. Thanks to realibilty of Brightspace we can offer a continue services accesible in all the country. The use of portfolio helps to collect the work of the students and provided evidences need it to evaluate the performance of the students. Teacher can have master class, that can improve each years helping to preserver good practices and optimice the time in the configure each class. In the last year Brightspace was crucial for the continuity of the operation of the institution, we didn't stop any moment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Yes, Brightspace is reliable, friendly, and intuitive. The process for adoption is quick, and the integration is simple. Our community likes to use the App Pulse for movil device, an excellent tool for the students. The teacher finds easy to use the Brightspace to help our students to succed. The LTI protocol help to integrate to different tools that is needed for digital environments. The number of vendedores that can integrate to Brightspaces is more that enough to have different options and choose the rights tools that works better for the Institution.
Friendly but not intiutive
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspace helps teachers simplify assignment grading students' work, contacting groups and assistance records.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes too much effort in finding, programming and getting ready your course because it is not intuitive. You really need to look into how to manage what you want it to do. Also, the Content section is too limited, there is no chance to play around eith display.
