What do you like best about the product?
It´s SaaS model, that allows us to be focus in contents and courses and not in machines and the plattform availability

The integrations have a complex technical component that makes difficult the firsts steps and implementation

It's easy to find everything you are looking for.
Easy to manage and learn. I used for a whole semester as a teacher without previous instruction, and I was able to create exams, add content, create assignments, and everything I needed for my course.

What do you dislike about the product?
The grading system was a little confusing at first, but after a short instruction, I got it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This semester I had a problem with a few students who told me it was hard for them to upload their homework. Also, a few reported they didn't get a notification for the discussion forum.
I find that planing a great class may be helpful for several semesters, you need to adapt some things, but pretty much you have everything in your master class.

It is a solid and secure platform with very interesting evaluation activities.
What do you like best about the product?
The best part is the ability to respond with audio and video notes to virtually any assignment. And, in the case of using arithmetic question exams with the use of variables to avoid plagiarism between students, it greatly facilitates the evaluation for teachers. Brightspace offers an enormous facility to load multiple contents and organize it efficiently, in such a way that the student can access multimedia learning material that allows him to follow the topics of the curriculum. It is so efficient in this regard that we are evaluating, as an institution, offering a permanent modality of education completely online for primary and secondary schools.
What do you dislike about the product?
If there is something wrong, it would be the few possibilities of customization of the virtual campus. From the sales and support aspect, it was a bit disappointing that the local (third party) vendor in Ecuador had so little knowledge of the product, promising a wide variety of service features and implementation times that were ultimately not fully met. He also offered to manage the platform to reduce the workload of the institution's technology department, but in the end we had to take care of everything. Although this is not a deficiency of the product itself, it affects the service in general.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped us a lot in the change from Face-to-Face Education to Homeschooling due to the pandemic. It made it possible to establish a consultation space that complements the online classes and gives us the possibility of evaluating students effectively. In addition, the platform allows the parents of the students to know the contents that are developed in the classes with their children, see their performance and the grades they obtain for their work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The software is of excellent quality. I would recommend contacting D2L staff directly (especially in the case of Ecuador) and having them demonstrate Brightspace for you. It will allow them to know the system in detail.

What do you like best about the product?
How intuitive is it for instructors & learners to use. Rapid implementation time. D2L training and consultant team. As a teacher I really like sound & video capabilites for academic activities such as retroalimentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Question Library & creation, sometimes it's difficult for an instructor to use this interface

We are solving online education & also synchronous education. The rapid adoption rate has been a significant benefit

Make sure to involve your customer success associate in every step of the implementation process.

What do you like best about the product?
Conten overview. It is easy for a student to see all content at a glance. Grades panel is customizable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complexity of all configurations. Understanding each option is not easy. Communication with students is not very easy to do. Initial panel is not confortable and i dont understand why its there. Evaluations have a lot to imporve.

D2L helps manage classes, and helps keep track of everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will have to invest in continuing training for the people who use it. It is a product for persons that have some knowledge or affinity with technology.

I like that you can have everything you need on the same platform: Material for a class, students portfolio, assignments, grades, and it's easy for teachers, parents, and students to check feedback of an assignment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Students have had problems submitting documents from an apple computer, but a solution has been to turn it into a PDF.
Currently, we have problems sharing documents from google drive but I'm sure that is something that can be fixed because the icon is there, so it means it is possible to do it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A benefit is that all information is in one place, including mails if you want to keep track of an issue.
The major problem is having to download documents from other platforms to post them as pdf, not only from Google, but from other sites like the one where I have my classes textbook, to upload a video from the book I have to download it in my computer first.

It is very easy to adopt, I really like the ease of integrating third-party software, for me it has been very easy to learn to operate the platform and the response from the brightspace team is very good.

The ease of integrating other software and using them as a native tool

What do you like best about the product?
Bright space has a gorgeous design, and it's so practical all the tools that the system offers to us on evaluations and sending files. Also, our professors send presentations, feedbacks, and recordings of classes. I am also delighted that all the updates of the different modules always reach me in the mail, so I am aware of everything that happens and what the teachers ask me.
What do you dislike about the product?
The bright spaces tools are very well, so I add one thing. I think the color palette is adequate, but it could use an option for a dark theme since, in our case, we use bright space all day. It tends to tire our eyes. That is a problem that many pages and platforms have already solved with the solution I propose, so I think it would not hurt to apply it to bright space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bright space is the most critical tool that we use for virtual college education. Cause the facility that offers to students (we send all our activities, exams), professors (they send presentations, feedbacks, and recordings of classes), and to the administrative part (although I'm not sure how they handle it). On the other hand, it allows excellent handling of different courses simultaneously, unlike other systems where all the information is disorganized and getting to it is highly complicated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not hesitate for a moment. It is so handy and practical. Learn all about the tools that it has for you and start using bright space. Bright space has a gorgeous design, and it's so helpful for the user, the system on evaluations, and sending files.

What do you dislike about the product?
In my institution, it is still being deployed, so we are still missing some functionality and connectivity with external tools and resources. I was one of the early adopters of Brightspace at my University about ten months ago, and it should be fully operational for our next term. What I do not like is that it has taken more time than I expected to be fully operational.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has simplified the way to organize and manage my courses. The learning curve has been relatively easy. My students prefer it over the previous platform. It is easier to connect to external tools. For example, being able to embed YouTube or Flicker resources directly into Brightspace has been a huge change when compared with our previous platform where the only way to embed the external resources we wanted was through HTML code.
Visually, it is very beautiful. It can be complicated at first, so you have to "tinker" well.

The complexity of the service for teachers or instructors, however, for the student it is very good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it because the university uses it. Even so, it seems better to me than the one the university already had. Now I can have all my courses in one place. Since it connects easily to platforms like Zoom or other video services, finding my links is much easier. Due to its calendar and the way it displays assignments, I now remember better what task I have to submit, and that, complemented by the notifications, allows me to remember everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In education, they can continue improving the environment for course creation, or add MOOC functionalities, since they need to be replaced by others. Perhaps they could also advertise the page more, as I had not heard of it except through the university. I like the originality they have, so I don't think that's what needs to be changed, it just seems to me that the platform is not recognized at all, at least in Latin America. They could also send emails in the user's or company's language to have more closeness with the customer. Yes, indeed, I think more closeness with the customer is needed without being intrusive, of course (I also don't think they are, and that is appreciated). They could also ask for feedback more often, to keep improving, this is the first time I see them doing it. Everything else is perfect, at least for a student like me who just wants studying to be made easier.
