Automox makes patch night easier

  • May 24, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that we can schedule patches using policies and groups. I love that we can install software via the Required Software page. I love that there is a worklet catalog.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I can't export a device list. I don't like that I can't see what patches were recently applied to a device from the device page. Linux support is lacking. Rebooting after patching isn't reliable (or never happens) even though it is specified.
I don't like that we can't easily export a pre-patch report for a group or All Groups.
I particularly don't like that searches are automatically applied when changing filters on the left pane. I keep a bookmark with limited results, just so can switch around without automatically searching.
I don't like that clicking on a group from within a policy removes it even when you aren't clicking on the minus icon. I should be able to navigate to a group from a policy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patching servers is so much easier and makes a daunting task into a simple one. I feel like our company is safer and more secure by having regular patches done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate your options and choose the best service.

What do you dislike about the product?
Finding why an update failed isn't always easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying software, monitoring compliance rates, scheduling, etc.

Great product that lets you roll out mass updates and programs.

  • May 24, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can roll out massive updates and choose when the system will restart.

Exploring the UI and setting up Notifications are easy.

All computer information is laid out in an easy-to-find manner.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was a little easier to roll out specific programs inside of Automox. You almost have to script everything to get what you need to be done which can make rolling out multiple programs time consuming. I also wish there was a way for all the applications to always install the newest version of an application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't have to deal with users not wanting to run updates and when a support ticket comes in I can see everything displayed in a great format from serial number to computer model.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to roll out mass updates and programs this is a product that could work for you.

    Security and Investigations

Co-parenting Between Security and IT with Automox

  • April 21, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Connectivity is good, resource consumption is decent. Admin options are plentiful through the worklet interface. Integrates nicely with SOAR platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is not as intuitive as it could be. It seems like it takes a few too many interactions to get to where you want to go. There is no shell to drop into on the endpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sometimes spawns multiple instances of itself. Idle resource consumption seems unnecessary if the service doesn't have any tasks. It handles scheduled patching with low overhead.

Excellent third party patching product.

  • March 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Automox can patch third-party software on devices regardless of network location or connection to the domain. Automox works exceedingly well for our hybrid environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that on the fly deployments of software were easier, and more available. Similar to the functionality of PDQ.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox allowed us to ensure patching of both the OS and third-party software occurred even as we shifted to a work-from-home environment.

What do you like best about the product?
That it is pretty fast for a SaaS solution and lightweight.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting on why a endpoint missed needs to be better. Needs a window to show logs regaurding that endpoint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monthly patching and Vulnaribitlies and required software. Easy to deploy new hardware and customizable.

Best patch management I've ever used.

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility, customizations, and massive list of supported software. I have yet to find anything not supported, and the scheduling options make the end-user impact as minimal as possible.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Dashboard is easy to use but feels unresponsive at times. If it were snappier when navigating from page to page, it would be easier to spend more time there experimenting with cusomizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our IT team is small, Automox has helped me install and manage software for users all over the country and to be able to vet updates before they impact the users.

Good Value for money

What do you like best about the product?
The cost, I was able to use it for one device; most others were wanting a minimum number of devices before you could use the service this made these services expensive. Automox allowed me as a freelance information and cyber security consultant will enable me to practise what I preach and do it automatically patch
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface took a bit getting used too
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping my pc patvhing uptodate
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you are a small business if a small number of pc's this is a cost effect way to manage patching

Review of Automox

  • January 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Automox is easy to use to patch systems and distribute/install applications. I like that you can create/use Worklets (based on PowerShell and Bash scripting) to create, automate, and enforce any custom task on endpoints.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface has a basic design. It also seems a little slow when navigating from one screen to the next, as the application displays a "Loading ..." icon in the middle of the screen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
During the Pandemic, most of the company's users started working from home. In addition, our company was expanding to different geographical regions, and an on-prem patching solution was not meeting our needs anymore. Also, not every user connected back to the office via VPN to receive system patches. We needed a centrally managed clould based patching solution that ensures all the corporate systems are up to date on patches.
