An endpoint is any device the lightweight agent installs on, including laptops, desktops, servers, virtual machines, and containers. Each virtual machine counts as one endpoint even when sharing a host. Each dimension is sold in units of 10 endpoints, so you buy in blocks of ten.
You are billed upfront for the endpoints you subscribe to at your per-endpoint rate. Each endpoint added above your subscription bills at the same rate, annualized and prorated for the rest of your term. Subscribing to your expected count keeps billing predictable.
You choose one core plan, Automate Essentials or Automate Enterprise, priced per 10 endpoints. Automox Resolve Powered by Splashtop is a separate add-on module you layer on top, also priced per 10 endpoints. Both charges apply together on the same invoice and scale with your endpoint count.

Easy-to-Use Patch Management, but Sync and Logs Need Work

What do you like best about the product?
I like Automox’s easy-to-use UI and that I can sync it with our devices and download the packages needed for each update. It helps us push patches effectively across lots of computers, manage vulnerabilities, see which endpoints are compliant, and run scripts on endpoints. I also use groups to test updates, especially on Windows endpoints and servers, and to update new machines while imaging and install the software we need. Once Automox was set up, patch management became a lot easier. We liked its UI better than Action1 and thought it had better capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the sync is a little out of date, and it can take a really long time for patches and improvements to show up on an endpoint. I also wish the logs were more detailed when an update doesn’t go through; sometimes they just say it couldn’t pull the package without giving much insight into why it didn’t work. The initial setup took a little getting used to, especially putting Automox on every Windows machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Automox to push patches effectively across lots of computers used by faculty and other users. It also helps me with vulnerability management, shows which endpoints are in or out of compliance, and lets me run scripts on them.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Automox is because I work for a managed service provider, so I set patching schedules for our clients, deploy packages, and set software policies.
I can give you a specific example of a patching schedule I set up for a client using Automox: we have a client who is a school district, so we recently set up a scheduled patching worklet to check for Adobe Acrobat updates every Sunday at 2:00 AM to not interfere with any school time. We also have their monthly Windows updates through a policy in Automox that happens also on Sundays.
How has it helped my organization?
Automox has positively impacted my organization by creating faster productivity and better tracking when it comes to our patching. Our service desk is able to pay closer attention to schedules and reports and logs and make sure that patching is happening in a timely manner. The fact that the agent is deployed on all the infrastructure makes it so everything happens without us really having to look into things; we just review and make sure that everything worked as intended, which is a good workflow.
We have definitely received increased customer satisfaction scores for patching specifically. We had a few pain points with patching where the service desk would miss devices that didn't reboot for a certain amount of time or miss patches altogether. Automox was able to flag those things in the logs and checking the activity details, and by us being able to repair that before the client saw it, our customer satisfaction scores increased as a result.
What is most valuable?
The best features Automox offers are that the UI is nice to operate, it is fairly simple, the Worklet Catalog is very handy when you need to look up something or do not have the information to create a worklet right away, and Automox University was really helpful when I was training to figure it out in the first place.
Out of those features, the Worklet Catalog is what I find myself relying on the most day-to-day, and the thing that stands out about it the most is just how in-depth it is and how many specific situations are accounted for in the catalog.
Regarding Automox's AI capabilities, I think it does a good job at maintaining governance and security. I have had Automox's AI stop me from inputting API keys or secure information into its chatbot, so all of that is in good standing.
In terms of Automox's AI capabilities, I think when it comes to Automox-related tasks such as worklets and policies, it is very good at determining the best course of action to figure out a solution.
What needs improvement?
I think Automox can be improved by including a few more software titles that are very important in their third-party software catalog, namely vendor software, third-party applications, and finance software. Those being accounted for in the third-party software catalog would be helpful. I also think that the reporting could be bolstered; we can see when patches are outstanding or when devices have not rebooted, but getting into more granular reports that can be exported cleanly to give to somebody who is not as technical to read the results from has been a little difficult with Automox.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Automox for about four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Automox is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Automox's scalability works well; we have massive clients with up to 4,000 endpoints and have not had any issues with devices missing updates or not being attached to policies.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support is great and very good. I would rate the customer support a 10; I have never had any problems.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not use anything except Automox.
What was our ROI?
General thoughts on ROI would be that I think Automox is a good product and useful for the output of activity. It makes policies run faster and decisions be completed quicker, which automates things so you do not have as much manpower to track those updates.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I did not have too much information on the pricing side of things since I was not responsible for administering cost on Automox or provisioning licenses; I more so worked on just the active tasks.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Automox, we evaluated Action1.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Automox an eight out of ten. I choose eight out of ten because there is room for improvement, but it is an overall very good software and I do not have issues using it on a day-to-day basis. My advice to others looking into using Automox would be to use the Worklet Catalog to your benefit and make sure you know how to use PowerShell. I would give Automox a rating of eight overall.

This is one of the tools on the market that comes with multiple feature sets, such as endpoint management software, patching, and vulnerability management. It also includes security features like SSO, MFA, password-breach checks, and support for audit trails.
I also like the simple onboarding process. The tool uses lightweight agents that can be installed easily, regardless of the endpoint’s location.
Its new inbuilt AI feature helps patch machines and generate reports that I had to do manually a few months back.
Pricing is pretty reasonable as well. You’re charged per device, and the support team is available 24/7 to help with any critical issues.

I personally feel that the Security feature could be used more widely as current security features are pretty much limited like threat detection on the endpoints if any or any malware which is discovered. Currently you need extra add on 3rd party tool in order get these security feature but if Automox can get that done that will be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Automox to keep our machines patched by ensuring endpoint OS updates, as well as third-party application patches, are up to date and that endpoints remain compliant. Vulnerability remediation is another feature we rely on heavily. We currently manage both Windows and Mac devices, and Automox helps us enforce the configurations required on those endpoints. We also use Automox to install and remove software as our corporate policies change, and to block certain software when needed, which can be done easily through Automox.
