The ease of creating reports even for a novice is especially appreciated as sometimes in my current position, I have to to train users.

I do not like the error descriptions. They tend to be general. When I am developing, I do not like stopping to contact the administrator to check the logs

The user interface was very good and easy to use. It was easy to onboard business users on it with minimal or no training.

Self service capabilities are limited and data integration required the help of IT development team. Otherwise, its a great tool.

A lot of business units generate lot of data and they all need data visualization tools. IBM Cognos platform is helping us visualize the data in the form of reports which business teams can access and get data. Features like downloading data in excel are super easy as compared to other tools like SAC.

The best thing about Cognos Analytics is that we chat and the AI suggests different graphs which speeds up the process of building a dashboard.

Many tweaks and settings are very hidden and they can be improved.

The business intelligence that is provided has enabled each sector to plan efficiently and avoid negative risks. The predictive analytics helps us to make reliable decisions and create awareness for future happenings. Data management and analysis has been efficient with the great performace from this stool that has enhanced implementation of projects and tasks effectively.

What do you like best about the product?

The ability to relatively easily get data into usable formats without needing to know SQL, and the ease of the ability to automate/schedule reports to be sent to those that need it.

What do you dislike about the product?

Even though I have some basic self-taught SQL knowledge I'm "just" a user without programming training, and I find data source joins to be frustrating in Cognos. When trying to join tables I'll get an error along the lines of "this doesn't use the same query context" which doesn't help me fix the problem. Also, training options are very limited. No options on LinkedIn Learning, the options I found on YouTube aren't relevant, and the IBM support community pages have wildly different opinions on what someone might try, but little that I've found helpful. I took a ~10 hour training course (through Senturus) on professional report writing and still find it difficult, so I can only imagine a brand new user would be very frustrated.

We have a large database full of information but the built-in analytics tools are virtually non-existent. I use it less for visualization and more for getting line-level data from the database.

The best part is the approach that uses Artificial Intelligence for visualisation is great and helps to take great decisions helping to bring better outcomes, prediction models, as well as data exploration models, gives good results, on top of everything the tool is easy to use.

What do you dislike about the product?

IBM Cognos Analytics with Watson being an IBM product works well within IBM ecosystem but when it comes to third party integration it's a nightmare and many times not supported, another problem which I discovered is the performace lag when dealing with large and complex datasets as this should be there for the price point being paid.
