Task management, well done but redundant

  • March 07, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana provides a way to keep track of projects and priorities, things I'm not great at and tend to keep in my head. Everybody knows that it's helpful to make a list, and Asana lets you create a detailed list you can interact with in more meaningful ways than simply crossing off entries.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lots of other business software has its own means of planning and tracking progress; they make Asana superfluous. In these cases, the more detail you add to Asana, the more trouble you make for yourself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana will help me keep on track with the numerous new responsibilities I'm about to have. As such, I haven't realized any real benefits yet. At the moment, I'm being told to use Asana to track my onboarding progress through the LMS, hence the redundancy complaint.

Powerful, robust, FREE platform with few limitations

What do you like best about the product?
I LOVE how much is included in the free version. I use Asana to organize work tasks but also personal tasks for managing my home & family with my husband. I love that you can be a part of teams to share responsibilities and easily assign tasks to one another.

Within each tasks, tasks are easily set to be recurring and to include notes or subtasks. Tagging is also easy and provides another way to view tasks.

It's also really handy that you can organize projects into categories using either a list view with subheadings or a more visual 'board' view.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is really inconvenient that you cannot drag/drop tasks in order of priority in the My Tasks view (list or calendar). While I understand that tasks are ordered based on if a time is assigned, I feel like most people look at their day's to-do list and would rather be able to order it based on when they plan to do it.

Things also get messy if you want to have a recurring tasks with also recurring sub-tasks. It often creates duplicates so you can't use this structure.

Lastly, you can't assign more than one person to a task. While Asana holds the position that assigning ONE person to be responsible promotes them actually getting it done, it does create some hassle when you have to create multiple tasks if multiple people are working on something together (i.e., a meeting or group project).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps SO much being able to keep everything all in one place. There are so many different ways to organize, categorize, & view tasks to keep track of everything. It is so helpful to be able to collaborate with other team members and see the same tasks, progress, etc.

Personally, it has cut down on repetitive communication & lists with team members. We can easily say "check Asana" and check off tasks, even if the items were assigned to someone else! It also allows team members to easily check to see what someone has going on and how they can help (or hold off adding more to their list!)

Personally, recurring tasks take the "mental load" out of things I need to do every day, week, month, etc. Setting up a system automates my approach and makes more time for more important items.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some time to set up a framework for how you will organize tasks using teams, projects, tasks, sub-tasks, tags, etc. Write instructions so that going forward, everything is consistent and you can rely on what you see in the app based on assignees & lists, etc.

Works great for tasks but still needs some improvement done

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can share my tasks with my manager and we both work from the same application, so we have access to the same information.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that once a task is completed, it's a hassle to find it if you need it again later on. We're using the free version, so maybe that's the reason why, but it would be useful if the application was more user friendly than it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating projects and tasks that I can share with my manager and we can both see the progress made.

Great tool for efficiency in a team

  • March 05, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for project management when there are several team members. I love organization tools like this in my day-to-day, but Asana's strength is allowing you to make separate projects with varying team members, to assign members tasks, add attachments, comments, etc. making things way easier than back-and-forth emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I dislike about Asana. I think the "assign" mode might be able to be better named. This is so minor, but I had to "assign" or re-assign tasks to my boss when I used it in a previous position and that felt awkward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Efficiency; staying on top of to-do lists with various projects with differing goals.

Great task tool

What do you like best about the product?
The product is very easy to integrate into other software and it's easy to use in teams. We have integrated in places like Microsoft Teams channels and more to come. It's easy to use projects and leave comments etc. It's very flexible and the invitation of team members works really well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not really anything to dislike. If we should put a finger on something, then it's an option to see your teams tasks easier and find a way to see them even though tasks are marked as private. Private mark is the default option, so it's often not supposed to be private.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great tool to make checklist and reminders for yourself, a team or as a project. The repeating tasks is working like a charm. Making it easy to do repetitive tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Maybe be better at pushing it to other departments who use different tools which make it harder to collaborate between departments.

Manage Your Tasks And Projects With Asana.

What do you like best about the product?
It provides the best and easiest ways to track projects and tasks. I love the notification options, alerts and comments that really keep us updated. It is very easy to use, in less than an hour you can learn to use all its functionalities, you can create projects in the form of boards to track and create reminders. You can create very detailed checklist templates to copy and paste when you need it. I like the way it allows us to create individual channels even from different computers and allows us to invite each other to respect the group.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform is a bit heavy, I tried it with an average Internet connection and had to wait long enough for all the dependencies to load.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has worked very well for me, I love it. One of the best things that it offers is to create tasks through email. My team managed to use the free version for almost two years. We upgraded to the paid version only when our team grew and we had to add more people to our workspace. Check the cases of Asana users published in their blogs. There are some really good tips that will make your work with Asana easier. Asana also promotes agile project management and can create a Kanban board for your project if necessary.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very efficient for project management. It is simple to use. It provides efficient cross team communication. All information can be made accessible and transparent to all team members. Communication can be simplified by integration with Slack
What do you dislike about the product?
Controlling who can edit tasks isn’t available in Asana. The android application is not as user friendly as the desktop version. The chat option is not present within the interface. Tasks need to be created every time an attachment is to be uploaded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana provides proficient user interface. It makes project tracking, task tracking and accountability easier and simpler. It helps keeping files in order and makes sharing them with teams easier and simpler.

Asana is one of the best project management tools in the business

  • February 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a very intuitive and easy to use project management tool. Creating and managing projects is simple. Collaborating with other employees and departments is amazing easy and is also in real time. Task management and timelines are fantastic tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana does have some issues. Some have argued that it is a little too complex. Sometimes the amount of sub tasks available can be confusing. Also if you are not diligent with checking your inbox you could miss some updates. All and all this is really nit picking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, task follow up and collaboration. I have realized that this tool is incredibly useful when tracking orders and creating a sense of accountability between departments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is an extremely easy to use project management tool. Incredibility intuitive and helps raise the level of accountability. If you management multiple projects or just want to manage your own workload, Asana does it all.

Great for Organization and Task Management

  • February 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that you can list everything out. If you're a very organized and detailed person, it's just one huge checklist and you can write as much as you can and modify it as much as you want. If you are very attentive to detail it can be a lot to set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I personally don't dislike it, as i said, I really like the checklists and the notifications, you can really modify it and receive updates and notifications. I think it's really good for keeping people organized, and to help them understand steps to becoming organized, strategizing/planning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping with overall task management. It does a great job at keeping you organized and working on prioritization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely have a plan and use it, make sure you're updating it and taking advantage of the features. Really dedicate yourself to being organized.

Organize, Track, Manage on Asana

  • February 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like it's calendar feature best and checking items off when finished. It is best for use to plan your days accordingly when working.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not a very collaborative application. It stiffly is for help scheduling and getting approval from boss. We have to travel across a wide variety of platforms to properly collaborate. You can really finalize things here when you need approval and scheduling and tasking yourself but I'd wish for an application that does both the organization and collaborative piece - it feels more like facebook comments rather than using google docs to collaborate and communicate. Possibly them adding in an area where you can work and edit on documents together would work well and make the comment feature a little less chaotic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's great for scheduling. I use the calendar religiously for looking ahead and seeing what tasks have to be done on certain days and making sure we get things done in a timely fashion. Notifications to the team are quick and will ensure me fast responses when issues arise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is designed for being task oriented. It is not designed for collaboration - so do not use if you want to be able to use it for both an organization and collaboration function.
