Overall a good digital asset management system, although the facial recognition can be a bit picky.
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use and the features are clear and well-organized. There are many settings that you can change to customize things to your liking. Canto provides a great number of portal for sharing assets online. Customer service and support, when needed, has been timely and helpful. Overall, I would say that this is a solid digital asset management system.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have a few issues with the facial recognition. Because we are using it in an archival setting, we upload a lot of older assets from our collections (late 1800s and early 1900s). The recognition does not work well on these photos. Also, if the initial recognition photo was not great, you'll find that you must contact customer service to have them remove this initial photo. I wish there was a way to fix this on my own without having to contact support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can search across multiple types of assets in one go. It also allows for a good workflow between different departments (sharing assets).
Canto has enabled us to quickly and securely share the materials needed to promote our products
What do you like best about the product?
The access for the distributors / clients with personalized access for each of them that is secure and never expires.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is the limited customization of portals — more flexibility would help make them feel unique to each company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Avoid duplication of assets and how to share them with distributors/clients
Canto is a helpful tool but often duplicated
What do you like best about the product?
Canto has some useful attributes, such as the photo sharelink and photo tags
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't love the aesthetic, and it's easy to duplicate work with Google Photos Drive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A helpful database to store our photos
Great platform for storing and organizing our sizable photo library
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to quickly search for what I need by using the search and filter functionality. I love that all our photos are organized and categorized for what makes sense for our institution. I also love the InDesign integration! Makes desiging pieces so much easier to be able to search within the design platform!
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be slow to load. We have also had issues with syncing our large folders from Box into Canto.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having all of the photos available to everyone on campus so they can search and find what they need without reaching out to us. Saves us time and gives them the benefit of ownership and flexibility.
From Chaos to Canto
What do you like best about the product?
Before Canto, our photos and other digital assets were strewn about different folders and platforms. Now, with Canto, they're all in one place. The ability to search for exactly what you need has freed up our time and made us more effective in what we do!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a barrier to entry with Canto and you have to learn a lot before being comfortable using it. But once you get the hang of it, it's great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to easily locate assets.
Great DAM that scales with your team!
What do you like best about the product?
Canto has transformed how our marketing team manages, shares, and organizes digital assets. As a growing organization with multiple campaigns and contributors, we needed a solution that could handle a wide volume of images, videos, and branded content—Canto delivered exactly that.
The interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy for both tech-savvy users and less technical teammates to navigate. Uploading, tagging, and categorizing assets is quick and efficient, and the powerful search functionality helps us locate what we need in seconds. I especially appreciate the version control and permissions features, which reduce errors and keep our assets consistent across channels.
Canto also makes it simple to share content externally with customizable portals, which is a huge time-saver when working with partners, press, or other departments. Integration with tools like Adobe Creative Cloud and Slack has made our workflow more seamless and collaborative.
Support is responsive and helpful whenever we’ve had questions or needed onboarding help, and ongoing updates continue to improve the platform.
If your team is drowning in a mess of scattered assets or struggling with outdated file servers, Canto is absolutely worth the investment.

What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile experience with Canto can be clunky when in the field. It does not mirror the desktop experience. This would not deter me from recommending Canto for DAM, but it is notable. Additionally, the initial setup takes a bit of planning to structure your folders properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Canto for interal DAM, external sharing with clients, and project information management. Searching is fast and filtering helps with our robust image library. The sharing and user permissions are helpful both internally, and externally with clients. We appreciate the integrations and easy-to-use interface.
Corporate Organization
What do you like best about the product?
I like the customizability of the software, alongside an understandable system structure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whenever I open up an image and scroll to the bottom of the information on the right-hand side of the screen, it always automatically pops open the full screen information view which is a pain to have to close every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Searching and organizing specific projects and client materials.
The best DAM I've found - and I've demoed A LOT
What do you like best about the product?
The AI video search feature is my favorite feature, but I also love how we were able to connct to our Sharepoint site and easily transfer assets over. Implementation was amazing - having a dedicated implementation person walk us through the entire platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
This isn't even a good "dislike" but our storage is limite to 2 TB (THAT IS STILL A LOT OF STORAGE) and we had the option to purchase additional, but we wanted to start out with 2TB and see where we got.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of great assets (photo and video) that don't get used often enough because we didn't have a DAM with a great search feature. Insert Canto: We're now easily able to find specific looks we are wanting without having to dig through Sharepoint photos that weren't tagged appropriately
UI/UX needs improvement
What do you like best about the product?
It does what DAM system should do as the simplest way.
What do you dislike about the product?
Backend setting for different roles are not as easy as it could be.
There are lots of good features but those are not easy to use so we tend to not use most of them.
Our creative team use them everyday but utilize only 10-20% of what Canto can do.
