Skilljar Onboarding and Post Go Live Experience is Top Notch
What do you like best about the product?
The Implementation support is extremely good. Skilljar staff understand the business problems and help strategize on the best way to structure the content and help with very complex technical issues. They bring in technical experts if the need arises. We wanted to use our own cart and payment processor. They worked diligently to help us make the best use of the API, and our data flows seamlessly between the Skilljar platform, our NetSuite backend, and into SalesForce.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you have a large number of courses it can be difficult to manage them in the dashboard. But, the filtering criteria they recently added allow us to tag courses and then filter the results so that we can find the right course we're looking for. Also, initially their quiz functionality was pretty limited. We made several feature requests. They have delivered numerous features that we've requested throughout the last year—quiz banks, paths available in the API, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before we built a Learning Center, we had a live training only training department. This really limited our ability to train all of our customers and help them become self-sufficient in the product. We also weren't able to provide training services at different price points. With the Skilljar platform, we can reach customers 24 hours a day. We have multiple price points. We have lots of different types of training. When the pandemic started, we were still building out our self-guided learning content. But, we needed to train folks immediately. So, we went live first with VILT training. In less than a week, we converted all in-person training to all VILT training using the Skilljar connector with Zoom. We continued building our self-guided content and rolled it out next. We've continued to grow our Learning Center. With our marketing initiatives, we've expanded our user base steadily. We're meeting customers where they are and it is working! We also repurposed all of our customer education materials, bought a second domain, and have built out an internal Academy. We store all of the product training on this site so that we keep our analytics data separate and can offer paid courses for free to employees. We've also built catalog pages for individual departments. Now other teams are creating content for the internal Academy. The reuse is amazing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have complex requirements (need to integrate with back-end accounting or CRM systems) Skilljar can help you build a fully integrated learning platform. The course-building tools are easy and intuitive. The themes and layouts are easy to build and use. They are excellent partners both during and after onboarding and Go Live. They are in it for the long haul, and if you hit technical difficulties during your implementation, they won't force you to meet their timeline. They'll work with you at your pace. They'll take your feedback and update the platform integrating your feature requests along the way. I could not recommend them more as a company. They are stellar at what they do.
Great LMS system that makes it easy to create educational resources and distribute them to our teams
What do you like best about the product?
Its single sign-on integration with our HR system allows easy assignment of materials to our staff during their onboarding process. I haven't had much exposure to its competitors, but during our initial product comparisons, it definitely showed itself to stand out.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the data analysis to review progress can be a little challenging to work with as it doesn't seem to automatically save queries for future repetition of reports. Some mild tweaks to this interface would make Northpass even better than it already is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to onboard and train our staff faster, utilizing Northpass allowed us to convert from live classroom education and all of its scheduling and time commitment headaches to an online program which created a more streamlined system for training our newest team members.
Awesome Customer-Facing LMS Solution
What do you like best about the product?
Northpass is very easy for customers to adopt. The navigation is simple and straight forward as are the course layouts. I really appreciate how clean the UI is right out of the box. Additionally, the Northpass Success/Support team provides excellent support, offering to help with far-out requests like getting a Pendo Snippet installed that most LMS's wouldn't even consider. Thank you Paula!
What do you dislike about the product?
Northpass hasn't quite figured out the enrollment and course management piece from the administrative side. Enrollments must be completed for each individual user from their profile, there is no simple multi-user enrollment option without file upload. And, if a client is stuck on an individual lesson in the course, there really is no way to automatically complete an individual lesson or even the whole course for them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifying access to training, providing a customer-specific education environment, enrolling users, and reporting on course completions are all problems that we are solving. We've already seen a huge uptick in course completions and related CSAT metrics.
Great Platform for Proctored and In- House Compliance Training
What do you like best about the product?
Northpass is great if you're looking for a lot of proctored compliance courses, as they have a partnership with Open Sesame, and a basic authoring tool to create in-house courses. After doing some research this was the best platform for our company. Hooks up seamlessly to our HRIS and we can assign training to all learner groups very easily. If you are looking for high-volume compliance training at a decent price, this is it. Nice customization features.
Exceptional customer service! The team is always eager to help us through any issues.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more insightful reporting and the content creation dashboard was more user-friendly. The Northpass team has been extremely communicative throughout all releases so I'm hopeful that this will improve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to bulk assign training to large groups of people automatically. We've saved hours of time by implementing Northpass.
AIIM's Northpass Experience
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use for both us as the education provider, and our customers has been outstanding. We set up our Northpass site within a matter of days. The ease of selecting functionality for content was seamless, integrating with Shopify was a dream thanks to the Team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the certificate functionality is a little basic, but I know this is being handled in the product roadmap. We would like to see more ability to add custom branded certificates and award badges to learners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We took the decision to move our association business to a subscription model, away from the traditional single-course purchase model. Northpass has enabled us to do by integrating with Shopify, making course building simple, and our customer experience seamless. Our NPS score, and therefore customer satisfaction has rocketed.
Customer Education made simple
What do you like best about the product?
The detailed customer service and support. I truly believe they care about the accomplishments and goals of my team. It's ease of use having never built training before was just impressive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Right now the captioning process is a bit manual both for Skilljar support agents and ourselves and looking forward to how they/we iterate on this to make it an efficient and effective process moving forward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consistent implement across all our accounts. We have been able to better encourage feature use at an earlier stage through some key trainings built in as a part of the implementation process that we couldn't streamline before utilizing skilljar
Disappointed: way less versatile than expected
What do you like best about the product?
- Hubspot integration is great (if you already use Hubspot)
- Support and Service Team are great; they surely worked hard to help me set up my Northpass Academy
- Support and Service Team are great; they surely worked hard to help me set up my Northpass Academy
What do you dislike about the product?
- You cannot design your own Academy the way you want it unless you code your own templates
- You need to ask their Support Team to enable features for you. In my case, I could not add captions to my video lessons on my own - which seems to be a pretty basic request knowing they use the Wistia video player (which by default would allow you to add captions). I also asked them how to add courses reviews in my own Academy (again, another basic feature for any LMS) and they said they'd create a ticket to their Engineering team. What's the point of paying A LOT for an LMS if you don't have the freedom to customize your content by yourself?
- I faced a few bugs when setting my Academy and my first courses. The Support Team helped me solve them but again more than I expected for such an expensive tool

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I got Northpass to host my courses but I haven't fully experienced the benefits yet.
Northpass provides a great platform for LMS and the team is very supportive
What do you like best about the product?
The Analytics feature with the various options is one of the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software should improve on communication i.e., sending automatic messages when new courses are updated for any individual.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Conducting SOP training and maintaining the records for the courses completed by an individual across the organization
Excellent Customer Support - A True Partnership
What do you like best about the product?
Through Skilljar, we’ve been able to handle the changes that COVID has brought, including expanding virtual offerings and even hosting a large virtual conference for our partners. We love Skilljar’s open customization which affords plenty of opportunities for our developers to create an engaging and intuitive user experience. Finally, we love Skilljar’s support — whether it’s customer success or technical support, Skilljar is quick and incredible helpful whenever issues arise. I highly recommend this platform as it serves as so much more than just an LMS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Skilljar's product offering and functionality work exceptionally well as an external LMS. A growing trend within external customer education, however, is creating a more engaging user experience through gamification. I hope to see a Skilljar release more gamification features and integrations in the coming year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company is B2B2C so we utilize Skilljar to house our VILT learning content to train, upskill, and support our direct business partners. We implemented in late 2016 and built up our instance from a smaller offering of 10-15 courses to over 120 courses and 25+ live trainings. Since implementation, we’ve integrated with Zoom and Salesforce as well as building complex reporting through an integration with our data warehouse. From the time of deployment, we’ve grown both our partner education and development teams and a systems operations team that manages the day-today of Skilljar and strategically plans for future product and service releases.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
What sets Skilljar apart from other LMS is their top-notch customer support. Whether you are working with their CSM team or their Technical Support, they will ensure your needs are met in a timely manner and that your needs are addressed, no matter how large or small.
Amazing Customer Support!
What do you like best about the product?
The product is easy to use and we could get started with most features without much trouble. Since we have a different use case from their typical clients, we required some support with the setup. The teams, from support and CS to product, were extremely helpful in accomodating our nuanced asks.
We use HubSpot for workflow automation, so the native HS integration is a big help for data analysis and user engagement. The product team is pretty hands-on and open to customer feedback and requirements even during the development phase.

What do you dislike about the product?
The native email automation and certificate management could be more customizable. We use integrations (HS and Accredible, respectively) to solve for these. HS also helps us consolidate communication but a robust built-in certification capability would eliminate the need for another product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using Northpass as the LMS for #GROWTH Academy. The Academy is aimed to enable B2C growth and product folks learn frameworks for customer-led growth and earn certifcations that can help grow their careers.
