Simplifies SEC Filings, Exceptional UI and Support
What do you like best about the product?
I like the user interface and the customer support, which I find excellent. The software is easy to use, which is important for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compatibility with Microsoft Word: When I export Workiva files, the formatting and layout often do not translate well to being edited in Microsoft Word.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva simplifies the complexity of preparing and filing SEC documents.
Easy to Use, Smooth Implementation, and Great Collaboration Features
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. Fairly easy to implement. Collaborative feature is great and comment feature. The team is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost is high. Hard for a person who has never use before to learn on their own.

Real-Time Team Collaboration With Seamless XBRL Submissions
What do you like best about the product?
I really like this tool because it lets me work with colleagues as a team in real time, using a collaborative view that keeps us perfectly synchronized. Furthermore, the integration with XBRL for regulatory submissions is a real lifesaver during critical periods.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I’m not entirely convinced about is that reviewing reports in the mobile app feels quite difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits I’ve gained include centralizing ERP and CRM data in one secure hub, which helps eliminate errors and speeds up quarterly closings in a very reliable way.
Easy, Intuitive, and Reliable Platform
What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about this tool is that it’s very easy to use and extremely intuitive. In addition, the platform is quite stable, which gives me a lot of peace of mind because it’s very reliable.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I work with very long documents, the platform tends to slow down. It’s frustrating, especially when you’re handling large volumes of data and need a fast response.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automatic data linking has been key for us; it provides a level of control and accuracy we didn’t have before. The best part is the peace of mind it gives you before closing, knowing everything is fully updated and consistent, without the manual errors that were typical of our previous processes.
Powerful Integrations for Easy Data Extraction and Secure Access Control
What do you like best about the product?
What I liked most were its integration capabilities, which greatly facilitate data extraction. Furthermore, it allows for efficient management of access permissions for documents that contain sensitive information.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mastering linking and tagging takes a significant time investment. Furthermore, the escalating costs can be prohibitive for small businesses, making it harder to justify long-term.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit has been mitigating errors and reducing risk during the monthly closing process. This has significantly improved the integrity of our financial reporting by providing transparent, reliable automation.
Powerful Linking and Flexible Interface That Keeps Reports in Sync
What do you like best about the product?
Workiva offers good features, but the one I like most is Linking. It’s great because I can change a spreadsheet and have it automatically update in the annual report. I also like that the interface is flexible, and I appreciate being able to view the revision history.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it’s cloud-based, if the internet goes down it can bring work to a complete stop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to trace the origin of each cell back to its original source, and the reports are consolidated so the final source can be updated and generated in seconds. Overall, the experience has been incredible and very positive.
Workiva Makes SOX Testing and PBC Requests Much Easier
What do you like best about the product?
We have been utilizing Workiva as an audit tool for at least 2 years now for SOX testing purposes and simply having Workiva has made it well worth it. Also, I find that the Workstream feature is helpful when we need to get a large number of individuals involved to respond to PBC requests. It is much less of a hassle than sending multiple emails and hoping someone will read them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the reporting features of Workiva could use some additional development. They are good but not great. I can tell that Workiva is still working to develop its reporting capabilities and sometimes I would just like to see a basic view without having to click through multiple pages. And finally, I think Workiva does a poor job with uploading files. Sometimes, the uploaded PDFs will not display properly. The issue did eventually get resolved but it is frustrating during an audit when things are not loading correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to using Workiva, my team and I were conducting our audits utilizing spreadsheets and email chains and we struggled greatly with version control. Now, all aspects of the audit life cycle like planning, testing, identifying issues, etc are located in Workiva and external auditors are able to rely on the information contained within Workiva. And while Workiva may not solve every problem it has significantly improved upon our previous method.
End-to-End Audit Traceability That Keeps Every Link Intact
What do you like best about the product?
The linkages among all these components of an audit are truly the best part of Workiva and you establish a linkage from a risk to a control to a process to a workpaper to a finding and then that chain remains intact throughout the audit cycle, so if you're asked to show how you arrived at some conclusion, you can simply provide the entire trail to support the conclusion without having to search through various folders.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is definitely a learning curve and the documentation does not provide enough insight into the less intuitive items such as user roles and permissions; these should not be complex and yet they are difficult to understand and implement, resulting in you often assigning the same individual to the same audit multiple times to ensure they receive the appropriate permissions. The text boxes in Workiva are frustrating to work in; pasting from Word will cause issues with the format of the text box content and the toolbar literally blocks part of the text you are editing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva is providing an end-to-end solution to put the entire audit life-cycle in one place (planning/risk assessment/fieldwork/reporting/follow-up) allowing multiple audit personnel to work simultaneously and not step on top of one another and maintain a complete audit trail. For organizations subject to SOX or other regulatory compliance audits, the audit trail created by Workiva greatly reduces the pain associated with the review process and external audits. That is the primary benefit and Workiva provides that benefit.
