Great password management system

  • December 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very useful for keeping passwords in one place — I've even recommended it to family members for personal use! It's also easy to access on a browser.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that has been confusing is how my browser sometimes cannot remember which passwords have been saved by the browser itself vs through 1Password.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use to keep my passwords in an unsecured Notes document — 1Password's security is helpful.

What do you dislike about the product?
the many options and settings are confusing for first time users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Password policy adherence.

Intuitive and Simple!

What do you like best about the product?
The organization is top notch, and the Chrome plugin is super helpful! It saves a lot of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Perhaps the ability to share passwords with others in the app, instead of the browser? But I could just not be aware of the functionality there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It saves SO much time! To be able to fill in your passwords with one click is incredible helpful. Also the ability to securely share passwords within the organization is helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We all have to have 1,000 passwords... so this is a crucial tool!

1Password Review

  • December 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to add items and easy to find existing items in my vaults. It's also straightforward to restrict access to sensitive data and set up vaults for specific teams in our organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Chrome plugin is a bit clunky and doesn't always work right. You often have to click around a few times to get it working. It is easier for me to open the desktop app and copy credentials from that than use the browser extension. The browser extension for LastPass is way easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storing logins to our internal development environments and customer environments securely. Being able to share and restrict access to certain items is very important for us too and 1Password make this very easy.

Great experience

What do you like best about the product?
The family feature to share passwords across our household.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI on the phone app should bring you directly into predetermined vault, not forcing an extra step to see passwords.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My household has 4 users, and they all use me as their password keeper. I needed a way for my wife to remember/lookup her passwords and the kids to have the ability as well without having to come to me. Now they can all just look up what they need for themselves.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time and plan how to implement it. Garbage in, garbage out.

What do you like best about the product?
Security and convenience always compete with each other, yet you guys have mastered the complexity of the former and presented it in a super convenient manner. This is no easy feat and I know the result of hundreds of hours of careful thought and consideration.
What do you dislike about the product?
I only had one dislike, which you guys jumped on the moment big sur was out - auto fill in safari.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Generation of super good passwords,
That I don't need to remember
Easy access to key secure notes on my allle watch

1Password makes living a secure digital existence less of a burden.

What do you like best about the product?
1Password's auto-fill feature is spot on, it identifies fields flawlessly and fills them quickly and accurately. Another simple feature that I find helpful is the ability to view passwords in big type. There are times I'm transcribing a password across the room (for instance), you can chose to view the password in 1Password in a larger window with big type. I have used this unique feature many times. Lastly, 1Pass is quick to use and seamless integrates into my life. It is possible to have unique, crazy-random passwords and implement 2FA everywhere available and still be productive!
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to have password generator defaults, when being offered a secure password you are at the mercy of what the auto-fill gives you. Let me be clear and clarify, you can auto-generate a password with using the browser plug-in in the extension bar (top right of Chrome) and select the length, complexity type and whether to include symbols or numbers. But the password generator in LastPass has a leg up when it comes to customizing your password creation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The obvious is that I could tell you one of my passwords and... there's no way you'd remember it, even if you wrote it down you would only compromise one website. 1Pass has taken the chore out of 2FA with auto-fill! And I feel extremely comfortable that my data is safe with all of the protections in place to access my account.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn how to get 2FA into 1Password. It is not super obvious, but once you figure it out you'll never look back.

Solid password manager for teams

  • December 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to share any private data, not just text: .json files, .ssh keys, etc.

MacOS integration is pretty good, though I haven't used it on other platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Exporting data (e.g. ssh keys) could be improved; there are too many steps between having the key in 1Password, and having it on disk in a directory of my choosing.
I need to "Make a local copy", then search for it in finder, instead of just having a button available to create a new existing copy somewhere of my choosing.
Is there a reason why I cannot simply edit / select the text, then copy&paste it, so I can use it freely?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing private development / deployment secrets to ensure all team members have the same information for running all our projects.
Sharing social media account secrets.
Using 1Password this way currently fills in the role of AWS Secrets Manager / other cloud SAAS secrets managers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While I cannot comment on using 1Password as an individual user, consider using 1Password for teams. Even though you might not feel comfortable using it to share production/staging secrets, it comes in handy when you need to keep your team's development secrets synced.
