Increasing Productivity 101
What do you like best about the product?
That you can easily assign tasks to people on your team and that you can create your own tasks, specific categories for tasks and specific timelines for tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
That you can only assign tasks to people within your 'team' not people outside of it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are improving means of communication and interfacing without having to have sit down meetings. It helps with project management and ensuring that work gets completed
My favorite PMS by far
What do you like best about the product?
Simple and intuitive. I've worked with several competing products and Asana is my favorite because it's simple and easy to use, but also has enough complexity & product features to cover all of the unique use cases that I encounter in my work. I'm also a big fan of their many integrations with other services/products.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, I wish there were better visualization and reporting tools, but overall I'm very happy with these.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Navigating through large, collaborative projects with numerous stake holders/contributors. Provides a way to break down these complex projects into smaller chunks and set clear action items and tracking progress/deadlines easily.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend as my favorite PMS. Easy to use and has all the features that you're looking for.
Love it!
What do you like best about the product?
Can't live without it. Works well with GTD methodology. Keeps track of all my to-dos and mental clutter.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish there was a personal paid plan instead of teams only.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
More productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Takes a bit to really get the hang of it but once you're comfortable with it, there's a definite improvement in productivity.
Well-Intentioned Platform But Falls Short
What do you like best about the product?
Asana has a nice, clean look and feel, but it has disadvantages its competitors have capitalized on.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the layout of Asana, which I find confusing, and more often than not, it is difficult to find the information I am looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to improve our organization with Asana, however, we are still facing a number of issues when it comes to logistics on our marketing team. Receiving email notifications helps keep us on track and the ability to set deadlines, but it is a bummer we cannot upload content to the platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to get deadlines and work in order, Asana is a great place to start, but it is not the end-all to your problems.
Asana: the best organizational task management software
What do you like best about the product?
My organization has seen growth in individual roles as well as organization unity when we accomplish a project through Asana. This software has helped clear individual roles as well as helped us maintain a team structure.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could be improved if it worked cohesively with google or another user management system that we use. While Asana brings excellent team organization and management, it only covers individual tasks and projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With small and big projects alike, it helps our team members work together more. We have seen better teamwork within our workplace and more effective projects because of Asana.
satisfied project manager
What do you like best about the product?
the program is really helpful in my work as a project manager especially for its tools in allowing group collaboration. It has a great interface and offers clean and organized options for keeping record of project tasks especially helpful when multitasking and working on multiple projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the default email generation, for every task an email is sent out and this can be too much information overload. I was unable to disable this in the settings and even when I turned off he notifications, it continued to send emails. too many notifications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
mostly group collaboration task management for projects.. very good for this but as mentioned above, the email notification default is really annoying, bombarding our inboxes!
Experience working with Asana Programs
What do you like best about the product?
What is most helpful is seeing everyone in the company's progress on the project, as to not overlap and and keep communication simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly didn't dislike a lot. The mobile version isn't as user friendly, definitely required a bit of a learning curve, but that wasn't a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Definitely keeping communication simple and everybody's individual job on the project streamlined and on task.
Totally changed how I do my work
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to create lists, separate by project, look at a calendar view of when projects are due, work collaboratively with other people working on the same project, assign tasks as I think of them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I get overwhelmed by how much I put in there! I wish the app on my phone was better, it doesn't do the calendar view (which I like better than the list view).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working better together has been a huge impact. We are able to work cross departmentally, within departments, and plan out year long projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great to switch from pen and paper lists to electronic and working better across teams.
project management on an affordable scale
What do you like best about the product?
ability to add same task to multiple projects. Also, a number of the pro-level only features are great and easy to implement: start dates, timelines, custom tags, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
the way sub-tasks work is pretty clunky. Kanban board view is not as fully realized as list view. Integration with Google docs for more complex dashboard view was limiting (we use O365, not Google docs, in my org.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for project planning, even before assigning tasks. Easy to develop plans across projects and teams, without losing sight of shared critical path.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
while free version is appealing, be aware many of the professional features are necessary if you plan to do any substantive project management work.
Great and easy to use!
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it provides a ton of clear visibility into the status of fixes as well as the product management side of things and tracking progress. I like that when I go to log a bug it creates an easy way to track the progress of the bug as well as log the priority and urgency of the bug. Asana helps connect our team across different teams and have clear communication. This also helps break down communication barriers between teams. Like mentioned above it is part of my role to notice and take document of bugs. While not being the most technically savvy it can be tough to communicate these issues as well as have proper documentation in an organized fashion, let alone keep an eye on the resolution of the bug. Asana allows me to do all of the above mentioned with minimal effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
Haven't noticed any downsides of using asana yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None, Asana works great for everything we need it to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would be sure tho think about the variety of things that can be done with the tool. This tool is very useful in a large number of applications. Some of the things that this can include are bug fixes and tracking the progress towards getting issues resolved and corrected. It also helps a ton from the product management side of things because the person who submits a case has complete visibility into the progress of the case with ability to receive and make additional comments and bring forward additional questions.
