Useful for sharing knowledge within an organization

  • June 14, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy the macro functionality in Confluence. There is a ton of freedom when creating new content, whether that's individual pages or spaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search functionality could use some serious help. I rarely seem to find what I'm looking for unless I search for page titles specifically. Often, I'm searching by content within a page and have found this feature to be unreliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing across an organization. Some benefits include segmenting knowledge by natural groupings within the org. How to guides are a breeze because of how flexible the customization within pages is.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely explore the macros that are available, they've made a world of a difference in my documentation. Some favorites include markup, Gliffy diagrams, table of contents, charts, and Excel content.

What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't seem too stable. It is down quite a few times a week. sharing is also buggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
mostly documenting
Recommendations to others considering the product:
really depends on needs of the organization so evaluate thoroughly before investing.

Intuitive, easy-to-use product for content management

  • June 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
-Quick and simple to create wiki pages
-Easy editing and built-in, in-app editor tools to format and customize pages
-Navigation "tree" allows admins to structure content effectively
-Quick search functionality allows users to very efficiently find content they're looking for, and then narrow down by page type, date posted, etc.
-Easy to comment on pages and share editing responsibilities between users
-"Private" pages allow users to collaborate without adding unfinished or unnecessary content for all users to see
-Mobile app is available
-"Confluence Questions" is a brilliant community-driven solution to questions from users
What do you dislike about the product?
-I struggle a little bit with the more advanced editor tools, and would like some training videos to demonstrate those features.
-I wish there was the ability to allow our external end users (our clients) to access certain permission-based areas of the Confluence site, so that we could truly keep all information in one place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-As a software company, we can pool our knowledge and resources into one tool, where all users can access the same information. This helps to promote knowledge sharing and enhance training and documentation.

Organizational Tool

  • June 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to notify team members when you make an update to a page within a particular space.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be glitchy, sometimes I have to refresh the page in order to save a comment I leave on a page. Also, to have a calendar within a space, it's an expensive add-on. Should be a pretty standard feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building content and production calendars for the year.

great creative platform and alternative to the tired old office suite

  • June 05, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
quick flexible way to create a collaborative space for a team, with rich set of widgets
What do you dislike about the product?
can't think of anything - perhaps the lack of tools to convert Confluence content to more traditional productivity products like Word or Powerpoint
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
have created collaborative spaces at work to communicate project requirements, progress, results

Great collaborative documentation system with good integrations

  • June 03, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to collaborate on documentation. It integrates flawlessly with the rest of the Atlasssian suite and there are plugins for most anything else (draw.io is one we use extensively)
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit browser-intensive as with most javascript based apps. Change control is a bit flaky at times, especially when multiple people edit the same page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Needed to document all-the-things! This does this well in a cloud-based environment and easy to keep updated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're already an Atlasssian user, it works well. Pretty much a no-brainer

Flexible and Customizable

  • June 03, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of the product is that different departments/teams within the company can customize spaces to serve our various (many times different) purposes. I also appreciate how everything is easily searchable
What do you dislike about the product?
This may seem a bit nit picky, but my least favorite thing is that I can't have separate lists of attachments on one page. There very well could be a way to program around this, but I haven't figured it out, and it would be very, very useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's been very helpful in organizing and time/date stamping/saving versions of documents. Version control has been huge. It's also been a good resource for building dashboards to keep my team informed of the status of various projects etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend doing a test run (if possible) to see if it meets all of your needs. It's been great for mine, but I'm sure it has some limitations/some things that can only be fixed by pricey add-ons.
