Fivetran is helping us build more reliable data pipelines
What do you like best about the product?
In just a few weeks we were able to implement our first data pipeline using Fivetran, which delivered a quick and immediate business benefit. The Fivetran team supported us extremely well during this initial deployment, and the incremental syncs are proving reliable (we are on the 5 minute refresh) and easy to scale out. Also worth noting that we have found the GUI simple and very easy to use. We are very much looking forward to working more with this product over time, so far so good!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing so far about the product that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
More reliable and timely ETL processes
It just works
What do you like best about the product?
It works with little intervention and time from my team to manage
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation could be a bit more detailed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data replication from source data to our data lake. It is easy to maintain
Fivetran made it incredibly easy to get the data we needed.
What do you like best about the product?
Working with the team at Fivetran was awesome. They made it super easy to get our data project over the finish line and helped us with every step of the process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. There was only one hiccup in identifying the right data source from our advertising platforms, but because we were able to get all the historical data it really wasn't an issue once we located the right source.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team was looking for a solution to funnel advertising data into our data warehouse so we can analyze our marketing campaign data in one centralized location.
FIveTran made our data pipeline easy to get up and running!
What do you like best about the product?
They have a broad range of connectors that should suit most businesses and their support is excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Re-syncing complete datasets can be costly under their new pricing model, but overall using FiveTran is cheaper for our company than hiring full-time data engineering staff. For our size and scale, their solutions work really well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using FiveTran to power our Data Lake - we make use of the Google Analytics, Webhooks, and Postgres Connectors to bring in all of data into one location that we can then use to run transformations against. FiveTran makes all of this very simple and we haven't had any problems with the solution since we set it up.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the cost of FiveTran against hiring your own Data Engineering team - for us FiveTran was significantly less and our existing engineering team could support it quite easily by comparison.
Fivetran is magic--transports what you want, all the time, with very little effort
What do you like best about the product?
Works with everything I want to bring data from, delivers it consistently (to BigQuery for me), and just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the simplest thing to write your own functions to integrate from APIs that aren't natively supported, but at least it's an option, and it works well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We funnel all of the data we need (from SFTP sites, from Google Sheets, from DynamoDB, from Cognito, from Zendesk, from Five9, etc etc) to one place to query. It's the magical data lake transportation engine that you need.
Resilient and capable pipelining tool
What do you like best about the product?
Wide variety of connectors, config vs. code, a new compelling pricing model, excellent support. Also a high bar for security has been met for our usage given the architecture.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far there has been little to dislike, support cases have been rare and well attended to. Pricing under the older connector based model was starting to look prohibitive but the consumption model has eliminated that concern. Commercial processes are somewhat immature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick, secure and easy pipelining of SaaS and DB sources to our Snowflake instances. Very positive cost benefit by displacing labour and license costs for other data integraton tools
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate through a trial, consider architecture in context of security
Simple setup and good UI
What do you like best about the product?
FiveTran is a good solution for our needs. It was easy to connect to our various data sources and start getting the data into Snowflake. We connected to 10 different sources in one weekend to get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times the error messages were helpful in figuring out the issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting all data from various data sources into our Data Warehouse. It was simple to set up and their UI is good. The updates and alerts are helpful too.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great solution to connect with your data warehouse.

Migrated our Tradition ETL system to ELT. Fivetran helped us in migrationg from ETL to ELT.

Easy to use and reliable ETL
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, and consistency. The UX allows for clear understanding of the sync processes, and troubleshooting with clear error descriptions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is really nothing I dislike about Fivetran.

ETL pipelines from across multiple vendors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure the integrations will work for you, test it out. Netsuite is the tricky one but has been working very well for us. Fivetran provides what we need and takes away the headache of having to deal with ETL'ing data across vendors. We definitely did not want to build that in-house.
Our business is not in ETL instrumentation, so a tool like Fivetran has enabled us to connect say Salesforce to Snowflake easily, and give the entire team access to the data they need quickly and consistently.
We tested other vendors in the past who did not meet our expectations. The one caveat I would say is that we don't leverage MySQL or other binlog level replication functionality via Fivetran as we dealing with schema changes under the binlog replication model is simply too painful and potentially dangerous.
You can consider StichData as an alternative as we did, ultimately Fivetran did the job for us and we're happy with it.

fivetran takes the pain away for managing etls
What do you like best about the product?
- fivetran takes the pain away for managing etls for standard vendors
- fivetran allows non-technical users to interact with our warehouse with csv uploads functionality
- fivetran transformations works well for us with webhook connectors to dynamically load data into our warehouse
- for anonymizing data using column hashing feature while doing replication from our master to dev rds instance - this helps with gdpr concerns and keeps our dev database from having any personally identifiable information

What do you dislike about the product?
- the postgres replication (using the Logical replication method ) has major issues - we tried to replicate data from our master RDS to another instance, but found the replication slot on master consuming more space than expected - we have had support cases that never got resolved
- Not all connectors have entity level delete capturing , wish fivetran could do that.
- wish there was more visibility into when the schema for various connectors is updated (when it happens)
