I've used Census at 2 companies that were early adopters, I use Census a few times a week.
What do you like best about the product?
Census is helpful because with minimal effort/coding I can sync data directly to business systems. Operators can also use the tool because it is straight forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
Debugging can occasionally be difficult. If a model breaks, understanding the issue with the model can take diving into DBT to understand what's wrong. It'd be nice if there was more feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census makes it easy for business stakeholders to use clean data in the tool of their choice. It benefits me because now I don't have to be on the line for data reliability questions, things can just match our DWH.
A must have for any forward-thinking and data-driven organisation
What do you like best about the product?
Census enables our commercial teams to make better data-driven decisions and allows us to run unprecedented automation in our CRMs and enables cross-system analytics and reports. What earlier took our engineering teams days or weeks to set up - and even longer to maintain - is accomplished by an analyst in Census in minutes. Cannot recommend this tool enough. The team behind Census is amazing and extremely supportive, takes feedback well and acts upon it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI isn't always on point in my opinion, but it serves the purpose well. UX in the app itself is not always intuitive, but you get the hang of it quickly, and the team seems to always be working improving it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census solves Reverse ETL primarily for our commercial teams and their tools. It has enabled them to be more productive and has reduced our overall tool stack since reps no longer need to use both a CRM, random spreadsheets, a BI tool, and various other data sources. They can all be connected to the CRM, and we can show the reps the relevant information - and alert them of positive and negative trends.
Huge unlock for our Marketing Org
What do you like best about the product?
Census was easy to implement and is quick and easy to update. The Census team has gone above and beyond to ensure our success!
What do you dislike about the product?
Some Marketo integration errors have required our attention, however, the Census team has gone above and beyond to help us troubleshoot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to move data from our data warehouse into our Marketing systems with relatively few developer resources.
Great tool for Extract Load processes - very simple UI and no code required
What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy and intuitive to use - there is no code required. Within minutes I was able to set up a data transfer from BigQuery to Hubspot without having to interact with either of the APIs
What do you dislike about the product?
I did run into an error upon loading the fields from my data source. However, upon a refresh in the web browser, the issue disappeared
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a no-code tool for data transfers between various platforms
Essential data tool for consolidating our customer views and analyses
What do you like best about the product?
Census's tool has a straightforward UI that's easy to adopt, allowing you to spend the majority of your time assessing business value and validating results.
What do you dislike about the product?
The alerting functionality, which lets the user know if sync jobs have failed, sometimes misses the mark and doesn't quickly alert.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to consolidate multiple usage data views about our customers into a streamlined experience for our customer-facing teams.
Census has directly impacted how we use data
What do you like best about the product?
Census is easy to use and responsive to feedback. We currently use census in marketing audiences, salesforce, iterable, and zendesk ticket information. It is easy to set up and I love the integration with dbt cloud
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I cant write custom connectors. Compared to other tools like hightouch, census is very non-configurable on the engineering side. Having a open source connector shell would be very helpful for many of our tasks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest impact census has currently is in our zendesk ticket information. We now update zendesk customer support tickets with information about the transaction and user within 30 minutes of ticket creation. This allows our overseas customer support team to not leave the app at all to respond and fix user issues. Its sped up our throughput significantly
Best new SaaS product to add to your toolkit
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, responsive team, solves a lot
What do you dislike about the product?
The Slackbot could use a bit of work and more customization
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to move data to 3rd party tools using just SQL. We can run marketing experiments without much eng lift now.
It is easily one of the best and simplest Reverse ETL tool I have ever used!
What do you like best about the product?
Learning to use this tool was very easy. It has a simple and effective UI which makes it easier to navigate between models and syncs. You can easily connect your Data WH, perform the data transformation using SQL and make a connection with your CRM, GTM tools, and customer communication platforms like Intercom, Google Sheets, etc. to execute the reverse ETL process. The most recent interface updates have improved navigation and I would highly recommend this tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to use a python script in Census and do the reverse ETL (push data into our CRM). This functionality is not available right now in Census. This feature would help us to build our predictive models directly in python and load the output data directly into our destination. This would be a powerful addition to our analytics efforts here at Crossbeam.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are lots of data requests that our team asks for from time to time and we need to push those data points into our CRM, GTM tools, and customer communication platforms like Intercom. To do that effectively and efficiently, Census has been a big help and a game-changer.
Census ingestions and syncs
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of Use
Short learning curve
Support for Salesforce/Marketo/Redshift/DBT
Error notifications when a sync doesn't happen for whatever reason
Very responsive support team

What do you dislike about the product?
That Census is phasing out ingestions and maybe that's the reason why there is no way of knowing why an Ingestion failed.
Manual dependency on the support team to add fields to the ingestions, once again due to it being phased out, makes little sense to automate this.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us Ingest data into storage and allows syncing into our CRM and marketing systems. Minimal SQL required.
Allows for advanced calculations/models before syncing data into systems.
Great Cx care, I can slack them for any issue we face.

Census has saved my day numerous times and it just gets better
What do you like best about the product?
What not to like!
They got an awesome and active community ready to help. Their support is great and always going the extra mile.
And of course, their unique selling point, a pretty awesome and fast technology for reverse ETL.

What do you dislike about the product?
It's just the working hours, I work in Germany and they work in USA. It's not particularly about Census.
The only thing I might disagree with is some design choices and some product features but they work hard and fast.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving many problems for me:
- Getting the data somewhere, fast.
- Actually getting the data somewhere.
- Being flexible when I need it to be without having to wait for a PR to be approved and sync times.
probably much more that I have not fully comprehended yet.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Product-wise, you get what you see. A fast and flexible tool to get the job done.
Service-wise, you get more than you see. They go the extra mile and that is not to be taken for granted!
I strongly recommend though that you make sure this product is up to your needs and fits what you need. Ask yourself, why do I need speed on data and for what?
