Easy button for creating data pipelines into Snowflake
What do you like best about the product?
After struggling for years to reliably move data from our various cloud and on-prem systems into our data warehouse environment, using custom code, legacy technology, other point solutions, we found Fivetran. In one afternoon with just a little bit of config, Fivetran started replicating data from our cloud-based CRM system into a Snowflake database every 15 minutes, capturing full history of every row update, insert, delete. It's really easy, and it just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Minor stuff to quibble about. The user interface to select tables (and columns if desired) for replication is fairly limited and manual, especially when trying to switch to history mode on hundreds or thousands of tables one by one. There is an API available to automate some (but not all) of that, but that defeats the easy button aspect. Fortunately, it does many ongoing things automagically, so it was largely a one-time setup thing we had to go through, not difficult, just lots of mouse clicking. With history mode it creates new change records on rows that have changed in the source, even if I have deselected the column(s) that are changing in the source, so a field like "last viewed on" that is frequently changing during the day will create a lot of target record changes and use more credits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran is helping us to get ALL of our essential business data in one place for analysis, alerting, etc. We spent way less time and effort developing and maintaining custom Python scripts just to move data from one place to another, so we can be more responsive to getting data in the hands of business data analysts faster, helping them get insights and take actions to grow revenue or identify and eliminate sources of waste and excess cost.
Increased Data Eng team morale
What do you like best about the product?
Census empowered non-engineers to configure data pipelines and helped us get back one full-time data engineer. The UI was delightful for non-engineers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Keep building more connectors and maybe some capabilities for engineers to leverage Census to build custom connectors (like Fivetran's cloud functions but in a reverse ETL context).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were using custom code for reverse ETL, and it was getting increasingly difficult to scale and extend to other destinations. Census solved that by providing the connectors and self-serve capabilities to non-engineers to manage reverse ETL initiatives.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Include non-engineering stakeholders in any evaluations and POC's for Census, and you will discover the true value of the platform.
A fantastic tool that is only getting better
What do you like best about the product?
Census allows us to quickly and securely sync bespoke audiences with our third party marketing tools, such as Braze, Google Ads and Facebook. While Census itself is fantastic, what sets this product apart is the team behind it. They are highly responsive to service inquiries and are always receptive to feature requests that meet the demands of our growing business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Census has some work to do before it becomes a mature product. Technical issues impacting syncs are more frequent than ideal, though these are typically resolved quickly. Some of our third party marketing tools charge us for the volume of data we send. Census occasionlly struggles to find the right balance between economically processing updates with sync speed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census allows us to have one centralized platform for sending company data outside the organization to our third-party providers. This eliminates the need to interact with multiple different systems, which is ideal from both an efficiency and security perspective.
Census just works
What do you like best about the product?
We're thrilled with Census, 99% of the time it just works.
We were spending too much time maintaining custom code to move data out of the warehouse and into our Ops tools. Now we have a managed service that allows us to build a single view of our customer data and push it to all of our Operations tools. Reverse ETL is a breeze now.

What do you dislike about the product?
We've asked for a couple of feature enhancements here and there, but it just works with almost no support. I'd love to see the Slack integration mature a bit more as we have to come to rely on it so heavily for some support workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census lets us sync our customer data into all of our operations tools - Salesforce, Intercom, Slack, and more. Our Operations teams always have up-to-date, consistent, and reliable data feeds, in whichever tool they are working from. This has helped us improve support response times, build highly customized engagement campaigns, and just-in-time health alerts.
One of the highest-leverage tools you can add to your stack
What do you like best about the product?
Census allows users who are familiar with the data they need (whether you're formally a member of the data team or not!) to liberate it from their data warehouse and sync it to the tools that would benefit from it. As a marketing ops person, using Census means that it's *trivial* for me to add a customer's product-related activity data to Salesforce, calculate summary stats for Marketo, and much more. Just requires a little collaboration with our data team.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is still in its pretty early stages, so the UI of Census needs a little more love. Examples of this include categorizing the various syncs you have on your dashboards, their reporting of alerts/errors, etc. That said, the Census team is extremely hungry for feedback and has actively made changes based on crowdsourced feedback (and occasionally from direct, specific feedback that I've offered about my own specific use-cases). Nonetheless, the value of Census is far worth any momentary confusion I encounter, or the occasional digging required to troubleshoot issues (which stem from our own data, rather than anything wrong with Census itself).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Census, we didn't have a great, non-Engineering-related way to sync data back to the SaaS tools that our business teams use. It meant that we only synced data to one tool – Salesforce – and making changes was cumbersome. Now we're syncing data to several places with intentions for more. We're able to operate at a much faster pace, and we're beginning to get more creative in our uses (e.g. moving some of our real-time automation in Salesforce into by-the-hour syncs via Census).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As with any tool like this, just make sure you have a decent foundation of data already in your systems, that's prepared to be sent to other systems (e.g. appropriate field types, etc). Otherwise, no cautionary tales.
Amazing tool, It takes cares of all the ETL Development workload.
What do you like best about the product?
Using many connectors, integrate with any system with few clicks
What do you dislike about the product?
don't find any mistakes; all looks good..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrating data in Salesforce, Google analystics data with SQL Server
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Perfect data Extract tool, get data from any source and load data. perform incremental and delta loads, without any development efforts
Very smooth and great support team
What do you like best about the product?
The process is easy and the team is awesome. They always answered all my questions and never had any major issues. Had a smooth Integration with Shopify.
What do you dislike about the product?
Few tables were separated compared to my actual flat files, which I felt could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Process anutomation, and having a data warehouse.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
100%
It's an awesome product that solves EL issue. It's great for start-ups which want to scale fast
What do you like best about the product?
a lot of connectors to connect your analytical database with the operational database, very easy to manage and monitor. The support is definitely one of the stronger points
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing until now, but i would like to have more transformation features without use dbt
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am managing all our EL (extract and loads) process of our company with Fivetran and some schedule transformation process
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the chance, they have an excellent on-boarding process
Fantastic 0-60 Data Pipeline
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of working with the product. There is no complicated set up, heck we did not even need assistance from our infrastructure team. Fivetran is as close to point-and-click as a data pipeline can be.
What do you dislike about the product?
MAR, I hate MAR. I personally find it an extremely confusing way to price products. It also has us often making decisions based on cost versus value. I wish there was a simpler methodology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The "EL" portion of the "ELT" pipeline. I cannot stress how wonderful it has been to completely eliminate the need of custom scripts to transport data between systems and our datalake.
great ETL tool
What do you like best about the product?
simplicity, easy to use , no coding required , ready to go in 1 minute, UI , Logs
What do you dislike about the product?
some integration is complex like generate / refresh tooen
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
solving ETL tool issue , we do not need to build in house ETL tool
