It allows you to forget about database connection

Data Automation with Excellent Support
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran offers excellent support for their integrations, even integrations in their Beta phase. We implemented their Pipedrive connector, which was in Beta, and it was having issues. Fivetran's support team worked on it until they implemented a solution. The integrations run as expected every 15 minutes. Tighter intervals are available at a higher subsciption level. Data deduplicates automatically. You are able to add additional users at no additional cost, as pricing is consumption based. Shane, our rep, went above and beyond in the trial phase, giving us some extra trial time when the Pipedrive connector (which was still in Beta phase) was having issues. We initially trialed Fivetran with a Snowflake data warehouse, which we were also trialing, but fell short on Snowflake end. When we obtained our own database server and wanted to start back up with FiveTran, Shane was just as helpful as ever, even though our account had to be transferred to another rep.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some connectors can have a lot of tables that do not contain much information, however the billing is based on active rows so they can increase the cost. You can customize which tables sync though so cost can be controlled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data from our SaaS systems loads into our database and is updated every 15 minutes, keeping our Tableau reports up to date and fully automated. We are also able to access data that was not available from the SaaS built-in data extracts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider your options but keep Fivetran at the top of your list unless another solution that has all of your integrations is cheaper

Excellent ETL Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran's best feature is its consistent handling of incremental loads. Setting up efficient incremental loads used to be a major task; now it's the standard for most connections out of the box.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free usage for new connectors is amazing - it means you get your historical data usually synced for free. I've learned my lesson about syncing all the fields I can up front though - re-syncing historic data outside the free use period because of a field you forgot to include can be expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's made our data warehouse so much easier to maintain and grow. The cost may be higher than rolling your own ETL, but only if you don't value your sanity.

What do you like best about the product?
We enjoyed the engagement from the entire team, documentation, and publicly available articles (i.e., case studies).
What do you dislike about the product?
Truthfully, there was not much that we disliked in our interactions with the Fivetran team or testing we conducted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are aiming to seamlessly capture all of our data and automate ingestion with reliable monitoring. We have just started the implementation process.

the time savings for a startup to move quickly on moving data and the number of connectors

the only thing that isn't ideal is the email connector does not move only changed or new records but instead the whole file

having an easy time matching the speed of changes with our software development infrastructure for moving data into a centralized warehouse for analytics
Great product. Very easily to use and almost maintenance free.

Lots of connectors. Maintenance-free so far. Affordable. dbt integration is a huge plus

I wish there were more connectors, but that may be specific to my use case. UI needs a dark mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and maintenance-free ELT. We've moved quicker with our analytics plans because the data is available and regularly updated.

Compare with competitors. Choose based on the connectors you want. One thing to consider is how you will transform the data post-loading it into your db.
Great, solid ELT
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran was very easy to set up and has been rock solid for several months now.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've had issues with email alerts going to spam, leading to pipeline problems not being detected for several hours. A slack integration would help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have data from multiple sources and a rapidly growing volume of data. We don't have time to have engineers maintain custom etl/elt jobs. Fivetran makes that easy.
Simple self-serve no code data integration
What do you like best about the product?
As a SaaS platform, Fivetran eliminates the need for costly replication infrastructure and maintenance. There are many connectors for source and target systems which allows a whole range of possible integration scenarios. Getting up and running takes as little as 10 minutes with easy source (Connector) and target (Destination) configuration. The user interface is clean and informative. Historical loads transition seamlessly into incremental loads. Schema evolution between source and target schemas is handled by the sync automatically. There is also strong integration with dbt for post-load ELT transformations. Syncs can be configured to run as frequently as every 5 minutes, and data pipelines do not compete for resources, unlike some competitors. Security concerns are well-considered, with strong encryption in transit and at rest and a range of regulatory compliance. Documentation is also well written and comprehensive. The Monthly Active Record (MAR) pricing model bills for each primary key seen by Fivetran in a given month, allowing for unlimited record updates without additional cost in that month.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fivetran promote an ELT approach to data integration, which can limit your options for landing data into your target. In our case, we needed to be able to identify the source database within the landed data itself. Without pre-load transformation, we had to work around this by using database/schema naming conventions and extracting the source information in post load transformations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We aggregate data from 100s of SQL Server source databases into a Snowflake data warehouse for data analytics and machine learning.

With Fivetran you can move your data around and get the data analytics and insights you need to make critical business decisions in a matter of minutes. Outsourcing the ongoing maintenance of infrastructure, code and connectors allows businesses to focus on what they do best, leaving these data integration concerns to the experts like Fivetran.
Best tool for extracting and loading data into data warehouses
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran gives new users sufficient time to trial the product. There is a very thorough collection of built connectors, with option to request new ones. The documentation is one of the best I have seen. And, the team was very responsive and easy to do business with. I was notified by email of all errors and downtimes.
What do you dislike about the product?
A tool this good does come with a price tag. It is certainly not cheap. The pricing model is based on MAR, which is a different concept to wrap your head around with, but not too difficult to make sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Fivetran to solve the data silo and reporting silo problems. With minimal effort, we were able to make data from multiple sources available in our selected destinations, ready for transformation. It's also a great relief to know that Fivetran does minimal necessary transformation with the data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fivetran is the best fit for our use case, based on engineering capacity, budget, usage and etc. It is important to understand the pricing model before you sign the contract. Contact your Fivetran rep and ask as many questions as you need. From my experience, they are very responsive and helpful.
