Streamlined Data Integration for Enhanced Marketing Dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran seamlessly automates the data flow from our CDP (Segment) to our staging warehouse (Google Big Query), ensuring timely and efficient data integration for our marketing dashboards. The extensive range of connectors allows us to integrate various data sources, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of our TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU marketing strategies.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Fivetran is efficient, it offers limited customization options, which can be a challenge when dealing with diverse data sources and complex transformations. In our case it was Intercom. The cost of using Fivetran may be a concern for smaller projects with a limited budget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We utilize Fivetran for transforming and validating data for our marketing dashboards. It plays a crucial role in providing insights into our conversion funnels and helping us optimize our marketing and customer success strategies.
The data flows from Segment to Google Big Query and then undergoes transformation in Fivetran, validation in dbtCloud, and finally moves to the production warehouse (Google BQ with dbt_metrics dataset). This streamlined process has enhanced our ability to monitor and analyze our Acquisition & Activation, Activation & Retention, and Referral & Revenue efforts, corresponding to TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU stages respectively.

User-Friendly Tool for Reverse ETL
What do you like best about the product?
Census makes it easy for our marketing team to achieve personalization at scale in our omnichannel marketing without having to rely heavily on our data team. Their no-code UI is very user friendly and makes building our customer 360 a light lift using their reverse ETL.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful to have a greater variety of self-service user training resources available, but as for the product itself I have not run into anything that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Census helps us to build our Customer 360 by syncing our data warehouse with our SaaS tools.This has allowed us to break down data silos and stop wasting our organization's technical resources on writing Python scripts that are unscalable.
Great product and great company
What do you like best about the product?
The two things I love about Census are the product and the team. The product is very easy to use and flexible based on your team's use case. The product has opened up data to us in Salesforce that would have been very difficult to get in any other way. The team is also phenomenal. Everything from onboarding, ongoing support, generating product feedback, and renewals has been easy and collaborative. They are accommodating without reaching out to you consistently about new features, etc. I love working with the team and would continue to use the product based on the service that we receive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. I really enjoy the product and the team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tool is helping us get data from Snowflake to Salesforce, Zendesk, and Marketo. This taking work off our engineering and data analytics team and allows us to have the data where we need it.

- Audience sync allows for segment creation without needing to transfer all data to Marketo or other marketing systems

What do you dislike about the product?
- The audience interface is still young and needs work to avoid confusion
- Pricing model by number of columns or fields is strange
- Needs better handling of duplicate email matches in Marketo (we had to use person id in our syncs to avoid failure)

Game changer for Reverse ETL
What do you like best about the product?
We've been able to automate the augmenting and updating of Salesforce and Intercom with data from our Data Warehouse. This has been a game changer to help allow for more enrichment of our CRM, as well as the automation of case creation. Having the entire feedback loop of sending data from Salesforce and Intercom to our Data Warehouse and then back to those applications from the Data Warehouse has been incredible.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike. We started testing their Mailgun integration and immediately got asked to start paying for it. It would have been nice to collaborate and to have them understand our use case before asking us for more money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reverse ETL to get data from our Data Warehouse into our CRM and customer communication platform.

What do you like best about the product?
We've greatly appreciated the ease of use of Census as well as the large collection of connectors they provide. Also the Census team has always been very responsive to our needs and great to work with!
What do you dislike about the product?
Census has some features that I'd consider table stakes for all users, but they are gated by higher level plans and so we can't access them. Like SSO, and the ability to manage all our sync configurations in Git.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rather than forcing all of our business users to use our BI system, we'd much rather bring the data to them where they work - Salesforce, Gainsight, Intercom, etc. It also allows us to enrich the data records in those systems for better outbound messaging capabilities.
Great tool to close the data loop
What do you like best about the product?
Census helps us close the loop in our data reporting by getting important product and usage data back into our CRM so that we can easily leverage it in forecasting and reporting tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Better search functionality would help, as it's hard to identify and diagnose where some updates are coming from, like which syncs are updating which fields and who is running those syncs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For revenue reporting we aim to have all key revenue metrics in our CRM and Census is solving the problem of getting product and usage data back into the CRM. This gives the team easier access to it, and allows all the tools tied to the CRM to easily ingest the product data.
Data management made easy
What do you like best about the product?
Census has a clean UI that makes managing data between systems easy and effective. I'm able to set up a sync between sources to push data into Salesforce within minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
For me, Census has been a phenomenal tool. It was easy for me to get started right out the gate with very little confusion. I'm excited to see what improvements are made in the future!

Census has helped with connecting data sources and ensuring that our data is up-to-date across systems. It makes performing complex data ops easy and straightforward.

The UI is extremely easy to understand and the team behind it is very quick to help and just nice overall.

It is a new tool and therefore sometimes there may be bugs, but the team is super quick to address and solve them.

Census makes it really easy to take information from our own data warehouse and use it to create/modify attributes and generate user audiences for our marketing team.

New data can easily be added and sync refined quickly without touching the data source.

There isn't an easy way to export your syncs and document what data is being transferred where.
