Meltwater delivers excellence in media tracking and media relations.
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how thorough their media tracking capabilities are, including regional and national share of voice. I also find their media relations tool, incredibly helpful in assisting us in creating targeted media pictures that have the most impact. Specifically, Ryan McCourt on their team is always ready to help!
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, navigating new processes is confusing but again, with Ryan’s excellent customer support, we always find a solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, the company is helping us improve our quartile media reports.
Comprehensive with learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is a very comprehensive platform with a lot of tools available for our agency. It takes a minute to get the hang of things and learn the platform, but there are a lot of training videos, chat help, personal help and not the AI feature, which is super helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes articles are not picked up that should be by the platform. In addition, knowing whether the reporters listed for a particular outlet are up-to-date is questionable. It is also a lot to learn. If you don't invest the time in training, the platform is not necessarily one you can figure out on your own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater is our eyes and ears for media and social coverage for our clients. It monitors what is not humanly possible to do, or what would be a full-time role at the least. It also serves as our go-to in crisis situations for monitoring. We are also beginning to use it for reporting and newsletters for our client, which if you can figure out how to use it right and set everything up correctly, can be a big time saver.
Overall, extremely useful for media tracking and reporting.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact you can easily find reporters, create reports, and report media coverage to clients in a comprehensive newsletter all in one place. I appreciate that all the metrics are easy to identify and flag to clients as well. Broadcast being added to the platform is going to be extremely helpful as well. Our representative, Ryan, is always super quick to respond and helps with anything we bring to him.
What do you dislike about the product?
The AI tool tends to only work some of the time, primarily just helps to create searches and it isn't very good at refining the searches.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater allows us to track and report out media coverage and metrics via reports or newsletters in a seamless manner.
I use Meltwater everyday in my job to look up stories with mention of our company. It's very useful.

I love getting a customized report each morning. This really helps me in my job. As I send a report out each day with the information.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may occasionally miss a story. But, for the most part catches everything I need.

Powerful and Customizable
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is so powerful that it can be intimidating to begin using it, but the customer support is fantastic. There are also plenty of explainers for users to self-educate. It is also modular, in that you can choose only social media management or only media monitoring, but it really shines when all the capabilities are used in concert.
What do you dislike about the product?
It often hangs up when trying to perform tasks. Social media management can be hard use when posting across platforms with trying to tag others in a post.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Messaging across social media platforms. Targeting press releases to the proper journalists. Monitoring reputation and reach. Monitoring competitors.

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of meltwater is the filtering settings, whether it's sources, dates, locations, etc. it's really easy to drill down not just on what matters but also ensuring it's relevant to your situation.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are almost too many places that tools can live. It feels like monitor, explore, analyze, media relations, etc each house so many things within them that sometimes it can be hard to remember where to go to do something, where a certain saved search or report is housed, etc. Find myself toggling around a lot within the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides comprehensive coverage reports of mentions that matter to us, helps identify and quantify trends, can send alerts when there's a crisis, helps identify social media users/members of the media that we want to target.
Meltwater is the most valuable platform my job provides, making my work in PR much easier.
What do you like best about the product?
I love using the keyword 'explore' because it uncovers many insights that Google doesn’t show when I search for keywords.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don’t like about Meltwater is that it doesn’t always sort my newsletter articles alphabetically when they’re added at different times.

Gathering coverage that I might miss on Google.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to track both traditional news and social media. I like that I can keep these as searches or also make them into email/slack alerts. There are a lot of ways to customize your experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sentiment is often incorrect for news articles and social posts. Wish this was more accurate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater makes it much easier for me to keep track of both my clients and competitors, eliminating the need to perform manual searches each day.
It’s a lot
What do you like best about the product?
I like the daily updates of where and how our association’s name is appearing, but setting everything up and learning how to leverage the tool is a lot.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wear a lot of hats for the association I work for and haven’t had enough time to dig into everything. There is so much. Having something that would be an “out of the box” pre-set up of some standard things might have proven more useful. I started digging into, got busy with my normal workload, went back into Meltwater and got overwhelmed because I haven’t a lot of time to dedicate to basic set up and learning.

It’s showing me where our name (and other key words) are appearing.
Use of Meltwater for PR measures
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is a robust and comprehensive system that remains simple to use, making it easy to send out press releases to a database of trade press editors and journalists.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are too many options to choose from, and some of the terminology can be misleading. Additionally, sharing press coverage through an already published press release is not straightforward and still requires some manual effort, even after the recent introduction of Mira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I reach out to the target audience through PR efforts, focusing on editors and journalists. I also monitor social media activities using relevant keywords, track the coverage of press releases, and analyze the effectiveness of these measures.
